This topic has been around for over a decade now….hooo hummmm.

Every time it’s kicked around, once a year at least, guess what? You never hear again of any outcome.

Hoteliers like the Coral Marina and other hotels that have slips for spring and summer season I’m sure have clout to grease the MX powers to be to leave it alone or face going belly up plus all the side jobs and associated business, the mom and pops, too.

This will blow away in a couple of months then dies then next year, it rears its head again….hoooo hummmm.

Unless others know of something else I don’t know about, I say this same exact discussion will carry on for another decade or two or three or?

Baja could be a sportsman paradise but until the government controls the cartel, the bandits and corrupt police Baja will stay the same. Look how they have ruined Cancun and Cabo is going that direction. People want feel safe and not be preyed upon. Feel sorry for the good people who just want to make a living, and I would love to go down there and spend my money but just not worth the hassles and risks. Plenty of other places to fish in the US, smallmouth in Wisconsin, muskie in Minnesota, salmon halibut in Alaska, tuna mahi in Florida just to name a few. Just say to them good luck with that idea.

I think any country should support their citizens and businesses more than foreign business and visitors. Add taxes and make the sport boats pay thousands to fish Mexican waters. Look out for your own and fuck the other guy.

It would be bad for both Mexico and the US , it would kill the long range fleet and piss off a bunch of people , it would also add pressure to our Local fishery, it's a no win situation

Long range fishing does nothing for the Mexican economy. Most banks in MX are too far for small day boats to reach. The only people it would piss off is the SD fleet.
Everyone is pro American but hate on other counties doing the same

This has been kicked around for a few years now and it gets brought up every other year, Just like closing the coronado islands to all fishing period , a lot of money flows into Mexico from the Gringos that fish , hotels , fishing charters , restaurants, transportation and so on , I don't see mexico shutting down the sportfishing fleet

Maybe i didnt understand the orginial post... but if MX did indeed restrict US sportfishers from entering MX waters then the sportfishing fleets would move to MX and all the gringos would be flying or driving into enseneda to jump on the sportfihsing boats. Economy in Ensenada would blow up

I wouldn't worry how long it takes to get Alijos, I'd be more worried about getting back and in one piece. They don't really think ahead when your on a mexican boat, There looking at how much money they get to take you to where ever you want to go.

Lots of people as you know will not travel in Mexico so I don't see Ensenada benefitting from this , personally I don't see the sportboat fleet getting the boot , I think mexico will charge more money for the permits

The good news is our money is always green and Mexico will always want it. I do feel the Long Range boats should not fish in range of Mexican skiffs at any given Baja port

It would be naive to think that the landings and sportboats aren’t greasing some palms down in Mexico, oops, I mean “lobbying” down in Mexico. I wouldn’t worry too much about the fleet getting banned.
