Rubberhook2 has posted a nice picture of replacement hooks on the Sniper metal jigs. There are a dozen brands of slim metal jigs and ALL of them swim the same way and catch fish. Some are very beautifully decorated, I personally think the Shimano lures are prettiest to my eyes, but since the predator fish that encounters them is going after the size and flash I really don't think that it matters to the fish much how detailed the paint job is. I swim every lure in my big pool and watch carefully, and there really is hardly any visual difference in the water.
What does make a difference is the way the metal is run through the lure. The Snipers' metal loop is vertical along the jig length, and some other makers are horizontal. This makes a difference in the replacement hook's eye orientation. A standard bait hook has a horizontal eye, and a replacement jig hook has a vertical eye. So if you add a strong split ring to the eye of the lure, the replacement hook has to be a jig hook design with a vertical eye or else the hook will be sideways to the body of the lure as it swims. It makes a difference to my eyes in watching the lure swim. You can get away with a bait hook, as Rubberhook2 has in the top-right lure of his picture, if you use a factory ringed bait hook, which puts the hook back into proper alignment. But those hooks tend to rust out quickly unless you are careful to rinse them in fresh water and dry them before returning the lure to your tackle box.
