The background is Saint Elias which is the second tallest mountain in Alaska.
We were very fortunate to see the full view of the mountain as it is rare.

I really enjoy your trip reports, that fishing looks too good. When I fly to Anchorage I always sit on the right side of the plane hoping for a clear day, the view of the Fairweather range and Wrangell-St. Elias national park are incredible.

Just imagine what it would be like if there was a paved road leading to these fishing spots. The only thing protecting them is their remoteness.

Glad you were able to experience the kind of fishing I came to Alaska over 30 years ago to find. Definitely not like this all the time but on some days you feel like you really are in heaven.

Icy Bay Lodge is a special place for halibut/ling cod or for coho.
I thought the coho trip is the first and the last trip as Sept is the prime time for fishing and I rarely can find time for coho.
But I changed my mind. I might do it again next year as coho fishing was so much fun. :)
Salmon egg ( ikura) I brought is very tasty and they want more. :)

I ate coho salmon for dinner tonight. It was so good.
Ikura ( salmon egg) is so popular that my family and friends asked more. :)
I will bring home more ikura next year.

I always throw it away or hand feed the trout at the cleaning stations. Some of those things are big !!!

Salmon eggs (ikura) are still not popular among American.
Among 8 anglers at the lodge, only one or two anglers wanted to try to eat ikura.

But they are highly prized at Japanese sushi restaurants.
