A good start would be to have ICE show up at every new housing tract being built, it would be nice to see, but 25 years to late

I was in Construction for 38 years,
but for the first 10 years, I worked
    for A Union Drywall Company,
so you needed to be Legal,
once it went non union, then
5 guys were Putting there Time on one Guys Check
and claim 9, then as time went on it got so bad,
and cheap, and is 99 % Illegal now except the Foreman's.

They could have passed it with using reconciliation, at almost any time.

You have been brainwashed into thinking Dems want open borders. That is FAKE NEWS.

EVERYONE wants border security. The difference is Dems believe it can be done more effectively and cheaper using personnel and technology.

that the funniest thing I have heard in the Long time,
Obama had 8 Years to do Something, and for him
for doing it cheap, was to do nothing
because that where the Future Dem's , are coming from. LOL.

    There was this one time.....
    https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/obama-signs-600-million-bill-to-boost-u-s-border-security

But yes, this can has been kicked down the road by both parties.
I just find it odd Trump kicked the can for two years, too.

Walls are technology. Old ass technology that has stood the test of time. Even Mexico built a wall along its own southern border. But I heard that one's not racist so it's ok.

And when has increasing personel ever been more cost effective than implementing tools?

Trump wanted money for the wall in last years budget - his first as president. The budget came in putting us an additional $650+billion in debt. He wasn't going to sign it initially but went ahead and signed it......with the caveat that money for the wall would be in this budget. At that time he wanted $15+ billion.
Fast forward to this years' budget - it will be putting us $950+ billion in additional debt (a debt that NO ONE is talking about btw). He is not telling Congress to reduce the $950 billion but he does want $5.7 billion allocated for the wall. CONGRESS knew that this was coming.

    Set aside your partisan hackmanship…….

I'm not against the wall idea, but it does seem a bit pricey.

Roughly 650 miles of the border is already fenced. That's about a third of it, leaving roughly 7mil lineal feet. That works out to $800/lf. I'm thinking the Army corp of engineers should build it, not outside contractors... At that price, that better be one cock-sucker-deluxe fence.

You are drinking the Koolaid and spreading fake news. The dems have over and over stated vocally that they needed barriers to protect the border. Schumer himself was praising a bill bakck during the Obama administration that included funding for 630 miles of barrier fence and openly stated in rural areas of the US this was the only way to protect.

The only reason they are fighting so hard is because they can’t stand Trump and Pelosi is a fucking nut! Their new claim to defend their position of no wall is they want more technology and suddenly now that the R’s want barriers, they think they are immoral and don’t work....

It always puzzles me when people will make the claim "walls don't work" It's so incredibly obvious that some form of wall or fence does inhibit those that want in.Build it once, pay for it once and then all of that expensive technology (that we're already using and paying for constantly) wouldn't be so necessary. It really is a no brainer.

We will still need all the technology and more... most of the drugs come across the border at ports of entry, smuggled in trucks and automobiles.... we can’t search every vehicle.... plus some crooked border agents here and there.... I would guess we only intercept 1 out of 10....

There are two separate issues and they try to play a shell game to confuse the issue.... one issue is border wall and illegal immigration, the second issue is drugs coming across the ports of entry....

Pay for the wall once and save billions in social services, illegal immigration costs, legal costs, and stop some criminals from entering.....

A wall would slow them down by what? 5 mins? 10 mins tops?
It might deter the lazy ones, but people willing walk across a desert arent known for laziness, right?

No..... the walls are very tough to get over.... especially for women and children.... some might be able to get over it, but most will not.... many people don’t happen to carry a 20’ ladder trough the desert for hundreds of miles.....

They walk through the desert packing water because they know they can simply walk across and hopefully not die out there like many do....

Didn't mean your post at all brother! Just kinda felt like the thread was turning into one of those political threads that go bad. I'm glad the Coasties and others have a chance to put food on their tables. It's a mess that they shouldn't have to deal with.
