You do know that there’s 20 or so other people the skipper has to think of on the boat.
Yes getting a big bluefin is great, but most people that go on these trips want to catch fish. Not go on a 500 to 900 dollar boat ride.

My friend caught this one this morning on the Endeavor, tape out at 295. There were at least five more laying on the deck in other pics.

I could swing it if it was during the summer, but being away for that long during the school year could potentially be a perfect warm up for me being single again. :D

Go with Bight Sportfishing 3park charters - BFT only and everyone is actively fishing the kite.

We do have a couple guaranteed bluefin trips over new moon and full moon in October on the schedule and ready to book now!

Trying to determine ASAP if we make the Seeker 9/25 trip a bluefin trip. Hoping to determine in next day or two. Standby...

Is the 2.5 day on 10/5 a bluefin trip? If it isn’t you should make it.

The boats making the run out there are having success. Not everyone is getting one but the chances are there. Why would you advise someone not to go?I just got back Saturday night from fishing a 2 day and we had 8 fish. 7 of them were over 100lbs and the biggest going 210. We lost just as many due to tackle failure and chew offs. I personally lost one at gaff that was estimated to be 260-280lb by the crew.

FYI- almost every long range boat was out there flying the kite and balloon. Get em!!!

So what you’re saying, I spent 600 bucks to go fishing and there was 16 fish hooked. So was there like 20 people on the trip.if that’s the case not even 1 hooked fish per person. Not a good cost per fish ratio.
I’ll also stay with 8 and 10 day trips.

I get your point an d I do longer trips also. But to even have a chance at a 200lber 70 miles from home, you have to try for them.

If you are calculating a fish per dollar, you should just fish for bait from a pier.

Big tuna are "Big Game". You can't expect to get a cow on every trip. Take your chance while it's available! It may be a decade to have another opportunity this close to home. Catch just one and you will be hooked.

$600 for a chance to catch a 200+Lb bluefin tuna in our backyard isn’t worth price of admission? I was on the boat with the same group of guys that I fish with every year for the last 20 years. We split all the fish down the middle to make it fair! We even broke up into teams to take turns smashing on em. Would I do it again? You better fucking believe it. You go ahead and wait for your 8 day that cost $3000!

See, there’s Cow fishing and then there’s Cow fishing. Take a 14-16 day trip, spend $6,000-7,000, travel 4 days down and 4 days back, fish 6-7 days, maybe catch a fatty. Great food, limited loads, staterooms, more experienced crew members...

Or, take a short trip, 1.5-2.5 days, spend $450-700, travel 5 hours, fish one or two days, better shot at a fatty. Food, sure. Loads? Check the schedule. Bunks, crew of 5 instead of 7-8. There ya go!

Lucky dog that I am, I’m going to do both. Planning a 2.5 October 5 on the Prowler and a 14 day January 12 on the Angler. Win-Win! :)

And then there's a few boats that seem to be able to get the best of both worlds (lots of fish AND some giants).

The Pegasus returned this AM with 18 Bluefin Tuna (up to 210#), 92 Yellowfin Tuna, 35 Dorado, and 1 Yellowtail for their 2.5 day charter.

The Islander returned this AM with LIMITS of Yellowfin Tuna (270), LIMITS of Dorado (108) and 8 Bluefin Tuna (140-200#) for 27 anglers on their 2.5 day trip.
