Left dana landing this morning solo at 5. Got a great half scoop of bait and headed for the 178. Made it out and trolled north hoping to find some fish away from the crowd. Found a bunch of empty paddies and 71.5 degree water. Wind started to pick up so I ran into la Jolla. Got their to find a floating city surrounding the party boats so I turned inside away from the fleet. I fished 60 to 70 ft of water and slow trolled dean's and went 4 for 5 on quality models. Bottom line is stay away from the knuckleheads and find your own fish!!! Fish bit 40lb no problem. 20170915_123854.jpg

What!! Holding a nice yellowtail with an empty horizon behind you? Come on, where were you really?

Nice report. That must have been fun, trying to gaff your own yellow!

The crowd was to my left haha!! I have had plenty of solo gaff shots I like it better that way I've had buddies loose multiple fish of mine swinging that gaff like a baseball bat!

When you slow troll deans in 60 ft of water doesnt your bait get caught in the kelp , and your motor suck up kelp too. Where were you really and time to spill the beans , maybe little too far south . B
