Feral chickens will harass Turkeys trying to nest. F these yard birds. Every time I called in one area these little demons came running in. They will run Turkeys out of the area. I have house chickens. These feral ones are mean as hell.
If the property you are hunting is up against private land they likely belong to someone. They wouldn’t last long spending nights out there, so probably go home at night to roost in their coop. I guess I’d ask what are they doing to hurt your hunting? Don’t think deer are afraid of chickens. Shooting them with your deer rifle isn’t going to leave anything to eat anyway, it will spook all the game in the area, and you’d likely be killing someone else’s pet that was just out doing what chickens do.
No idea about chickens, but deer are skittish as hell. I have had dove and rabbits spook deer.
The chickens are non-native and will compete with other native game birds. Pet or a feral foul, they are no different than releasing a non-native any animal into the woods, or fish into a lake, ocean or stream.
I do agree, shooting them with a deer rifle, you won't have much meal left, lol and it could spook any deer in the area.
Clearly this isn't the norm, but a couple times at Angeles Shooting range, deer have moseyed right onto the rifle range. There have to be hundreds of rounds going off per minute. Both times, I'm thinking these are the dumbest fucking deer in CA!
