Why does it seem that the politicians in this town want the Chargers to move to LA? Chargers already have the signatures to get the proposition on the ballot. Why does it seem that the elected officials want to talk about anything but the Chargers? And Todd Gloria seems giddy at the prospect of the team leaving.

This one wins

he Chargers ownership SUCKS… and they’re cheap. The Chargers are such losers, they can’t even convince the city to raise the hotel tax rate to match that of Phoenix, where birds fly upside-down because there is nothing worth shitting on. With our luck, the Chargers will leave SD and we’ll build a stadium anyway to host 10 Super Bowls in the next 20 years… none of which the Chargers will play in.

Hey Mike;

You have to admit that Spanos is 100% at fault. NFL owners and the organization are just as political as the political minions in san diego..

Spanos keeps fucking San Diego over and we keep taking him back. I would be surprised if the stadium vote passes, but seeing that Hillary Clinton may be our next president, nothing surprises me anymore.

I hear you Art. Spanos is too poor to be an owner. And when Alex dies the team will have to be sold. Because the family doesn't have the money for the inheritance taxes.
But, I'm a football fan. I want football in San Diego.

The Chargers made 65M last year. That's alot of money to you or I. But the Cowboys last year made almost 250M. Jerry Jones OWNS his stadium. If the City puts up most of the money to build the stadium. Doesn't that entitle them to more of the money brought in by a multi-use stadium? I watch Petco Park from work every day. When the Padres are out of town on an extended road trip There is always an outside event being set up. That's $$.

The final 4 this year meant 500M in revenue to the surrounding community. How many of those people sent the night in a hotel?

Final 4 has been west of the Mississippi once in the last 20 years and the next 5 years are already scheduled. Chances of San Diego getting a final 4 are pretty low. There are not that many events that fill a stadium.

No city deserves to have an NFL and then lose the team from their city. The fact that they do not play very well in a weak league is still ok. I know real san diegians love their chargers.

That owner, on the other hand, is a real snake. As a politician, how can you back that fucker only to have him up and leave.

They should have gotten the stadium during the housing boom, but again they hired Fabi-fuck-face and he was a piece of work. I went to a public meeting he held. He couldn't hide the fact that he was revolted trying to explain simple things to simple people.

That said, good luck to ya brother. Just remember it was only in February Spanos walked away from San Diego. You best believe he is trying to get the hell out.

I get the whole posturing thing that went on last year. Neither the city or the Chargers wanted to show the opposition any credit.
But I feel Spanos doesn't want to be the small fish in the big pond. Down here he has a better ability to call his shot. I don't think he really wants to be Stan's bitch in L.A.
But money talks. It will be interesting how this shakes out.

Which one is killing fish?
After the Chargers were denied LA, certain politicians publicly stated they were willing to negotiate with chargers.

Mission Valley or Downtown...........Spanos chose Diwntown..........

Now, not a peep out of Faulkner and or his followers.

Reports are the Chargers are spending slot of money to stay here...............doesn't sound like they want to leave now. In not a big fan of the ownership.

I just want the Chargers to stay.

It sure would have made things so much easier if the Chargers choose the Qualcomm site to build a stadium. The chargers were so adamant about how terrible the Q really is yet they choose a build site that will see them staying at the Q for another 5 years...makes no sense to me, seems like they just want out of here. Everything you need is right there in the valley, all you have to do is demo and build and you have a new home for the next 40 years, all roads and infrastructure are already in place.

Chargers+downtown= we know it will never happen so it'll be our excuse to leave!

The greedy Spanos family are 100% at fault here. Fuck them, have fun in your stadium in the middle of nowhere. We'll get to watch your asses lose for free. We can change the channel and be done with it. I do feel a bit for Rivers. Dude stuck with Spanos and now he's getting dick beat.

He's still a rich guy so maybe I don't feel a bit sorry for any of them :D

Go SD Charrgers!!! I think the city will lose revenue if they leave. And people with money make mo money so quit hating on team owners of the most popular money making sport in the US. I must admit it was a crappy season for the Charger Fan last year.

Kurt's always been on the wrong side of this issue..... ;) I blame the whole debacle on the mayor and the hotelierres (Sp?). Every single other city with a complex like this has a higher tax on out of towners. Cost's us nothing, and it won't hurt tourism in the slightest. Nobody will cancel their trip on a $4 increase per $100 of their hotel bill. It's idiotic to not want to do it. The local area will benefit greatly from the stadium and all that it brings with it.

What if, and a big what if, but what if both ballot measures pass.

I understand your point of view and it is valid that you can tax tourist. It also may not affect whether they come to San Diego or not. I do not however agree that it "costs us nothing". What makes it right to use that money to build the stadium? Why can't that money be used for something else? If there some special agreement that hotel tax needs to be spent on a sports complex?

I understand most football fans make financial assumptions from the heart and not from facts. Hence it is more accurate to say that "I want the stadium build, just fucking because I want the Chargers to stay" nothing wrong with that.

No one is pushing the Chargers out. Spanos wants a new stadium and is threating to move to LA as leverage. The city knows this. Impass!

65M for Rivers, should have just gone to the beach and had a bonfire with the $. He's just not a winner. Guy will throw an epic game against a Dog, then snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, kick turf, point fingers and pout.

Sure, let's use $170 million on something else, like a library. Lots of people flocking here to see that, right???? Great return on your investment there.
