Conditions called for 2/15 and 5-7 knot winds- lies.

Launched at 7. Only a couple other boats there at channel island harbor launch. Very nice facility.
Jammed to the east end of anacapa and the wind was blowing like a mofo. Tried to drift a couple stones for nothing. We were rocking and rolling pretty good.

Decided to swing around the back side and work our way to the gap. Condition there were much more manageable. Metered around for a while and dropped on the right structure.
First drop pulled up some health Rockies.
Repeated the drift for the same results.

Well I guess they got hip to us, because that was it for the rockfish on that spot. It was wide open white fish and we got easy limits on that.
Moved around and got a few more small guys before we hit the kelp. Saw a lot of marks but no takers.

Wind was blowing around 15-20 if I had to guess.
    Water 55-56 degrees
    Pretty rough out there
    Not much boat pressure

    Go get’m

I was out there as well and did pretty much exactly what you did. East end was a bust as we drifted much too quickly. Went straight over to the gap. Marked a ton, but the morning but was slow. Well, about an hour into one of our drifts, my brother in law seems to snag bottom....nope, its a bite. We assumed shark, but we winched up a broad shouldered home guard. It gave us the motivation to keep going. We stayed in the gap all day and got limits of reds and chuckleheads.

25ft Grady with twin suzukis. We hung out in the gap all day.

I think I seen you at the ramp. I was in the silver ford with the striper.
