are we allowed to pull our own boat to cedros island and fish in it as long as it is not more that 10.5 meters? I talked to cedros outdoor adventures and they said i am not allowed to fish out of my own boat and i have to use one of the locals to fish there. is this true?

I thought you were supposed to use a local captain.

Do you really want to go there and flip the bird to all the folks there losing their asses and cast even more bad PR on the American fisherman? Maybe it would be better to hire a local pangaroo and do a good deed. They aren't to friendly to the big sport boats and it gets real dark on the water there.........

The OP is new and asking a few questions, why talk down to him. Seems he is trying to do the right thing. Hence the looking for confirmation on what he has been told. What he wants to do has been "ok" in the past but things are changing daily and its difficult to keep up to speed. We are doing just fine fucking up relations with Mexico without worrying about a guy who wants to interject a few thousand dollars directly into the pockets of roadside hotels, restaurants, gas stations, etc. on such a trip.
Maybe offer up info on places where he might go with less restrictions.
That Turtle Bay - Cedros Island is a long hard trip.

dude asked the folk that he needed to ask. and he got an answer that he didnt like so he came here looking to get an answer that he does like. It still doesnt reduce the need for fully paid insurance if he decides to go against the locals' recommendation

Maybe talk to them, pay for lodging, food and what have you. Use one of their capitans. Present it as a opportunity for them to make some money. Just spit balling, I could be wrong as usual.
Of course the whole covid thing gets in the way

They are not set up for that.

If you are looking for strictly calico bass, then San Quintin would be a better bet. Charter Juan Cook for a day or 2 to show you places to fish, the lay of the land, bay navigation etc. Then take out your own boat. You can fish from San Martin Island all the way down to Pt Baja, and if you are adventurous, all the way to Geronimo Isle and Sacramento reef. I think the bass fishing is better in that stretch of baja anyway. You will catch larger fish out of San Quintin without a doubt. I have fished both. I have a place in San Quintin for 25 years.

Wow. now i completely see why several of my buddies told me "not to join this site because of all the douchebags"...... I love fishing out of my own boat, and i love kind of doing my own thing. i thought it would be a really fun trip for me and my boys to hook up the boat and head down there for some fishing....It has nothing to do with being mad about the answer i was given by the sportfishing company down there. I just couldnt find anything that backed up what they has said. I even have no problem staying at their lodge, i just want to fish out of my own boat. Didnt want to pay 2200 bucks per person to go catch a few yellowtail thats all. thanks for the guys who sent nice respectful messages. i will PM you.

Simply trying to find out if I can pull my own boat down and take my kids fishing in the boat that I paid way too much for and dont use nearly enough. I see that the local sportfishing companies have an interest in having me drop 10k on a trip with them and thats why I wanted to see if I can go on my own. Jesus man, pull your head out of your ass and stop being a dick for no reason at all. wanting to fish in my own boat with my own kids should not have caused the prick responses i got. Been fishing the sea of cortez my whole life and want to start venturing out thats all.

If your looking for a highly rated professional Captain in Cedros.. ask for Balaam. He's a local Captain for Cedros Outdoor Adventures.. I've reserved him the last 3 times I've been there. Look in to it.
You can reach him through Facebook or IG - Luis Balaam Garcia Alcala
