January-April are Mexico. June and July make me think of Alaska. Am I wrong? Looking at camps and lodges on the Nushagak (King Salmon) or at Old Harbor (Kings, Lings, Halibut), currently 4 days fishing is about the same price. $3000-$3500, but you fly Alaska Airlines to Dillingham or Kodiak and take the small plane to the fish. My best single day at Jake's Tent Camp was 53 Kings, biggest 54#. Take limits are low, but we're all subject to weight limits when flying. And Old Harbor has a rare subspecies of King Salmon with white flesh that are particularly tasty. For ling cod and bigger halibut, which are too tough to eat, the 90-400# kind, you need the boat, but the little ones 30-40# you can catch from the dock or the beach with little spinning lures. The last time I was in Old Harbor, a small Russian crab boat was at the dock and sold me a dozen big Dungeness for $50. The food was great at both locations, Nushagak or Old Harbor, but I'm not a big fan of Caribou and Moose meat gives me gas. I took a varmint call, and called a big sow brown bear and three cubs at the creek between the lodge and the docks almost in the middle of town. The Sitka Blacktail hunting is decent too, if you want a break from fishing. Alaska is still an adventure, every time. Some other guests walked up the creek and caught a bunch of Silvers on flyrods. Alaska offers a lot on a short trip in July. I think I'd spend a little more, go for a week, and plan 6 days fishing.
