Yes , but that’s for a different story time
Pics of the broken rod?
Just tie it on and go. No need to worry about it. been fishing MANY jigs this way for years. It is not a problem.
I've started to add second rings on many of my jigs, or use a tactical clip, and I think it helps. I had the same idea about the weld, but fortunately the newer Caivo jigs seem to use a TIG weld on the rings that is pretty small and relatively smooth. It's not a big brass brazing blob. But if in doubt, or on other jigs I have retrofitted, I'll hit the braze with a dremel tool to smooth it out. Probably unnecessary, but I'm a tinkerer.
Is this a matter of matching the hatch (size of the bait) as all swim pretty much the same? I have a few of these and need to fish them but haven't been able to get out. Curious if there is a sweet size or 2.
There are differences to each but I would start day in and day out with the 5x and adjust from there based on what the day brings, and more importantly, the attitude of the fish.
Great jigs, and Jimmy is a pleasure to deal with. 38# yellow
