First of all we were lucky enough to have a double capt day with Capt Jukka and Capt Jonny on the "Action" with Start Me Up.

We met early on the docks and loaded up enough food and beer to last us a few days. The briefing was done before firing up the twin diesels and we pushed off around 2:30 AM.

After a short motor to some Opelu grounds we hung a light and got to catching live bait. We wanted to test some home made damashi and the bite was on with some fatty Opelu that came up along with one shark that broke a rig. After putting a dozen in the bait well we shot out to the buoy.

The water was exceptionally nice for that area and with barely a glimpse of daylight the first lively went in. It couldn't have been more than a minute before the first Opelu got hit and the fish was on. We put our youngest guy on the rod in hopes that it was a shibi. He's a skinny to be Sophmore in high school and we wanted him to school guys that complain about reeling in 30lb shibis while standing up.

After a good a fight the line went limp and he brought in a fat Mahi cow head that had been taxed. But no worries, because it was non stop action for an hour with double and triple strikes left and right. We also brought in a few small shibis running artificials in the melee. The tally came in at 10 1/2 Mahi and 3 Shibi.

After running out of live bait we took a tour for a few hours trolling for some monsters, but no one was home. The water was still exceptional for that area and it was still great to be out on the water. Great day, good action, and we took ALL our fish no questions asked.

We want to thank Capt Jukka and Jonny for an exceptional day. They were professional, put us on the fish, and took good care of us.
