Had a late last minute cancel and decided to run anyway, intending to fish a day and a half. Left HH at about 11:30 a.m. Made the crossing in a bit of a breeze. Baited up in front of Avalon for piece of mind in case the squid was tough to make. Rounded the east end and started looking. Bit blown out but metered fish here and there in the backside east area. Very little trickle of downhill current. Had to set up twice, but on the second set the boat swung perfect and the first squid was bit. Done. Did not stick around much after that and made it back by sundown. Fished a total of about 15 minutes.

25ish. Wasn't a big one but I am not complaining. Marked a couple of what had to be tankers in that same area.....

Lots of tankers have been pulled from there, including a recent 67 posted on here I believe. Getting those can be pretty dang tough though!

Congrats on the limit of WSB...why didn't you move and go hunting for YT and Halibut.

That's a decent biil$$$ for fo one 25 pound fish and 15 minutes of fishing.

I personally would have continued the day fishing for other fish....

It was blowing or blown out everywhere else I looked. Even under the light was nearly unfishable. Too risky for a solo trip to fish out away from the island in a lot of breeze like that unless you are on the hook. It was the right call. I could have stayed put and put the wood to 11 3/4 inch bass but I had my fish and felt it best play it safe, avoid the solo drive home in the dark, and give that little spot of conditions up to the next guy while they lasted.

I hope you went straight to Avalon to party for the night. The safe thing to do ya know. Like long haul truckers needing a break from the highway after 10 hours.

WSB are not a good fish to play C&R with.

Especially the bigger models. I have read that they can be injured internally during the initial fight, not to mention they only have one good run in them, so once released, they are spent, and may die simply because they have exerted all their energy in the fight.

    Ohhh hell NO!

If I would have never left because of conditions after getting a Biscuit. When they bite they bite. Conditions for you are not the same as the fish. Sometimes you have to suck it up!!!!
