Headed out of MDR at six with Farmy and my buddy Rich. Went over to Larry's dock for bait but non of his receivers were there. We picked up bait across from his dock, but did end up seeing Larry's receivers and his boat on the way in, not sure if he was open or not. Anyways clearing the break wall the weather was bumpy mixed swell 5' @ 10 sec. Got to the west end, maybe a dozen or so private boats fishing didn't hear much going on. We slow trolled macks outside of them for nada. Water was 57* sun came out and was very nice out there besides the swell. We went around the front side and fished in tight to the kelp hoping to get the skunk off the boat. I got my biggest checker of the year, and Farmy got his pb so not too bad of day. We moved into another cove outside a kelpy beach looking for a shot of yt or wsb. I put a mac out on a sliding sinker and got railed. I had the fish on for about five minutes gaining and loosing line when finally the fish got smart and went into the kelp 100 yard of our stern. Oh well another mystery fish gone. Great day out on the water besides the slow fishing. Weather across the chennel was nice. We stopped on a reef to try for some turds before mdr, rich got one decent one.
Saw a familiar boat at Cat too, anyone recognize it:D

    Great report and pics. Thanks.

Very nice size calicos. Sounds like you hooked a wsb, yellow, or bsb on that mack, the sharks and rays usually don't head for the kelp.....too bad.

Sure looked nice on the front side.

Thanks. The bass definitely saved the day. The perch did not even want to bite for us. Lots of bait at the island, looks like things will pop once this weather calms.

yea he has no friends plus you have a better chance at catching something with 1 guy and 10 rods in the water LOL

  18. I recognize it!:D Thanks for the report. I didn't do much better. If you love lepard sharks, then the west end was the place to be on Monday.:D:D

I'm a Sunday for Monday fisherman. It's hard to get people to go during the week sometimes. I got the solo thing down. It's almost easier just to go by myself, then having to babysit someone on the boat.
