    The nose of the fish is at least 4 feet off the pier and the guy with the phone looks 10 feet away and you are assuming he is taking a photo of the fish. There are literally thousands of things off that side of the pier he could be photographing.

    He's clearly not taking a picture of the fish.... who said he was? This must be what's throwing everyone off.

    That fish is a decent distance to the right of the guy taking a picture with his phone. He could be taking a picture of numerous things that we don't see. Possibly a weigh-in board with the catch info..... maybe the crew on the boat that is sitting behind where he is aiming the picture, as that is where the boats dock to sling up the large fish at the pier.

    We weighed tournament fish there many times as well as watching fish come in, and right in that same exact spot. It's not uncommon at all for people (mainly tourists) to snap shots of the fish, and then take shots of the big yachts that the fish were caught on.

    When you take into consideration the shadows, the angle of the scale beam, the angle of the cellphone pic dude, and the dangly legs, it looks to be about tree fiddy

    The creature is definitely over 200lbs! I wonder if it was caught on the front side of SCI and landed at Catalina? If it was caught near Catalina that would be awesome! Need Intel!

    The guy with the phone needs to be tracked down. What is he is photographing is the readout on the digital scale, I sense a conspiracy. Probably some type of Russian involvement in fixing the tournament.

    Looks like a 300, perhaps over 350...photographer is either photographing the scale numbers or the fish board/fisherman with all the info....hey, they grew since last year! Some new batteries and I am westward bound.....

    This would probably be a good time to post up that old classic BD pic of Chris with the halibut comparison. LOL

    I live in Avalon, and had several local friends see this in person Tuesday. It’s legit. The picture is a bit deceiving...not as big as it looks. Didn’t hear how much it weighed. My buddies estimated around 215lbs.

    I'm an idiot for climbing on board the conspiracy barge that came into port, I did however discover what the dude was pointing his camera at;

    Whats even funnier than the original picture is that you had to come online and TELL PEOPLE that the picture makes the fish appear bigger than it really was.
