Took the wife, 3 year old son and my parents to Catalina to see if we could get a few fish on board. For a quick trip we had fun. My 3 year old is now obsessed with fishing. He caught to many to count calicos. Every cast with his little 4lb test rod caught a fish "on little pieces of cut up sardines". Almost faster then me throwing a bait in the water. It was non stop baracuda and yellowtail fishing. My wife got to finally pull on something bigger then 10lbs this year.
For those of you wondering where? 3v's metered around for marks.

    Good luck out there.

    Fishing with the generations, priceless!

That "buggy whip" your 3 yr olds fishing with has just enough give to keep him on deck. Good on you dad to have enough sense to spool with 4 lb.

We got there around 9am. Sardine for bait. Metered around from the south v southward until we found the right marks on sonar in 50 to 75ft of water. Threw a few live baits for chum and a coupe hand fulls of dead ones. Within 1 or 2 minutes boils around the boat from cuda and the sonar lit up. We got 1 on a troll and lost something big. That's all we did.

Thanks. The 4lb is just enough for him to have fun and not loose the rod. He also caught a 3 to 5 lb bonito that he gave up on so my wife reeled in.

Ben, snag some mackeral and slow troll around the areas we discussed before. Keep an eye on your meter.....you should have no problem hooking a few yellows. Good luck!!!

In my Jeff Spicoli mindset and with my Jethro Bodine ciphering, I was thinking . . .

Your toddler probably weighs 25 lbs?

    25 lb toddler x 8 = 200 lbs - average fisherman =

200 lb man catches 285 lb BF on 150 lb test.

25 lb toddler catches 35.5 lb BF on 18 lb test.

I'm thinking it's time to step it up dad. Don't tell mom.
