B3F390BE-DBED-440D-9252-01BA26E87374.jpeg Left the Cabrillo Marina with my 7 month pregnant wife yesterday, 5/28/18 at 6:30 and made a quick stop at San Pedro bait for some decent and cured sardine to go with our fresh dead squid. Calm morning and made the crossing with just a little bit of west well. The woman loves the ocean and this will be her last trip, as the baby is due in July...when my trips may be a bit limited as well...

Long story short, the water was a crystal clear blue and although my temp gauge is malfunctioning, it felt very warm. Mid 60’s or so? Worked the empire landing area and then headed west of the isthus.

Finally, the surface action has picked up. Actually saw some boiling fish and we ended up with great calico bass action and nonstop Bonita, if you got on the right breezing school. No yellows for us, but I’m sure they were mixed in. The fish bit both the squid and the sardine, but the sardine was definitely preferred and got played with on almost every cast.

However...The seals were absolutely atrocious and shut down almost every little bite we started!

Caught and released this nice sized fellow and plenty of his or her little brothers and sisters. CA570D70-0695-4D44-B91F-BD71BADB2566.jpeg

The weather started off overcast in the morning and then cleared up beautifully to what was a gorgeous day. Flat calm until around 1 PM, when the wind came up. Made it home in decent conditions Got behind the Catalina Express, and up until 4 miles from the lighthouse, the water from her wake was incredibly turquoise blue. Absolutely amazing to see!

Tight lines and all the best. Summer is on the way!

I was out in Catalina yesterday also. Same result for us. The seals and birds were super annoying. The water temps were 64-66 on my GO9. Congrats on the new baby! I have a one year old and my wife has been very understanding about my fishing sickness, lol.

Way to go man and congrats! We just had our baby back in April. I'm a lucky guy my wife loves fresh fish, so back on the water for me.
A little advice, buy diapers and wipes at Costco and you will be saving a lot money.
Also if you don't have the baby stroller, cribs, carrier, etc, get to Toys R Us now and start buying before everything is gone.
Stuff is 50% off there now, which equals more money in your pocket.

    Congrats again!

By the time u have baby #2 you will have between 5 and 7 car seats.
    2 for her car
    2 for yours
Between 1 and 3 for the grandparent(s) who come each week.
Don’t even get me started on jog strollers, tow behind bike trailers, wagons, scooters.
Just try and hide in the bathroom...till they start shoving hot wheels under the door!
It all gets better...once they can start a dirtbike, tread water and operate a microwave!!

Looks great--is your name really Nick Shamrock? Either way, that is one cool boat--and cool family too.

Most of the bones were small...in the 3 pound range, but we didn't really focus on them. The bass were decent size and the seals were huge!
