This weekend my son and I hooped at Catalina for lobster. We left Dana Point around 11:30am, headed to Two Harbors. We decided to check out some spots that we might fish for lobster on the way (South of the harbor). A book on diving and fishing at Catalina gave us some ideas, so we used the sonar and marked a couple of reefs. When we checked in at Isthmus Cove, got our room key (we stayed in the summer employee cabins), had lunch, then headed back to the boat. After pumping up the dingy, we tied it up and headed to our spots to fish. We got to the location (about 6 miles from the harbor) at sunset and dropped the nets. The first pull was about 6:30pm and we got a couple of nice keepers. We were using 4 nets, and we ended up with 4 keepers on the first pull. We dropped them back down and waited about 45 minutes. On the second pull we got 2 keepers, and decided that was enough. We headed back to the harbor and were in bed by 9pm. Unfortunately, we didn't sleep well because the room overheated, and the beds were uncomfortable. Next time we'll just bring blankets. We had 3 of the lobsters for dinner with some garlic butter, and we're going to do the same tomorrow night. Hard work, but very tasty.

Solid job for a Neue guy! Is that a new way to spell new? Did you make prior arrangements for the housing or just set it up when you got there?

I love your reports. Wish I had been into this when my kids were younger. They're not hooked. Nice keepers your son is holding.

Great keeper to pull ratio and keeping only what you need ratio. Well done. My kids are really into catching langosta too. Everyone gets involved.
