Took some family for a cruise over to the island Sunday morning. The plan was to test out the range on my boat and do some recon for an upcoming trip. We brought a few rods along just to have a little fun while we were out there. Trolled a small swimbait while my aunt fixed up some sandwiches for lunch. Ended up with two calicos (1 keeper size) and three decent bonito.

Metered all kinds of life in the coves. Water temps were about 65ish. Beautiful weather and hungry fish made for a great day on the water. Five people on the boat and five fish so everyone got a chance to pull on one. Light tackle made for fun fights. The ladies both caught their very first fish. So funny to watch them squeal as the fish were ripping drag. Couldn't ask for more. Looking forward to getting out there again in a few days to do some real fishing! Cheers!

Nice. It’s great fishing with family. We were out there on Saturday, throwing hard baits at rocks and kelp. Steve got our first calico.

LOL. Couldn't get them to hold it up proudly. They were so scared to get anywhere near it.

What's that blue stuff? Is that from the Avalon sewage spill?

LOL. Gotta protect the ultra-secret 13.5 inch calico spot inside of Long Point..... Oops! :D

Or is that because you were accidentally in the MLPA? o_O

    Just kidding!

Good thing you blocked out your secret calico spot, though I'm pretty sure others have fished there as well. :D
