Yesterday on the front side of Catalina, we found several huge bait balls (on multiple spots) of tiny fin bait and tons of bass feeding on them. A truly amazing sight! The Calicos were literally flying out of the water and crashing the bait like offshore tuna. This action went on for over an hour and, although the yellows never made their appearance...I'm sure they were around!

Water was 67 and off-color green. Wind against current until the afternoon. I will post a report in a separate thread...

Awesome video! I saw that once right in front of Pt. Loma. there was thunder and lightning at the time and our graphite poles were humming/vibrating from the static electricity in the air.

That’s way cool. Thank for the video.

Similar action On Saturday throwing a colt sniper, there were several times were the calico would tail slap my jig sending it flying out the water.

Nice video! My son and I saw the same thing last year at Eagle Reef where the bass were flipping out on red crab. Fun stuff!

The bass were back at it today outside the isthmus. Was really neat to see, but unfortunately, still no yellows.

Very neat video! Did you cast some plastic into the boils?

Talking about abundance of bait, I was at the kelp beds by San Mateo on July 1 and these tiny anchovy fingerlings were seeking refuge around my boat engines from marauding mackerels, smelt, bass etc. We were using our bait tank net and scooping them into our bait tank but was falling through the drain grate because of their small size. It was such fun!
