On the front side near Hen Rock this weekend. Anchored up in about 20' or water. The kids were snorkeling and I was casually throwing an orange, brown and red flake swimbait towards the rocks. Thought I may play with some calicos. Got bit by what I first thought was a very aggressive perch in about 6' of water. Bass rod with 40 lb braid and 20 lb pink flouro.

Never thought I'd catch a yellow on a swim bait.

Ya...there are that many yellows at the island right now.

Awesome! Ya never know what you will get, just gotta keep casting!

Assuming yellows eat baitfish, swimbaits are probably just fine for them, however, not know as the most popular lure.

I hooked one about 25 lbs on a rattle trap in Point Loma kelp not too long ago. Shook loose when my buddy missed the gaff shot.

Got one out there years back at Cat on a swimmy on a bonito boil. 15lb fish. Best part was it was November and lobster season(long before it got crowded). Nice extra prize for the ride home.

I love fishing swimmy's on patty's for yellows. They love it and makes it fun on the bass gear.

    Nice going and enjoy!
