10/13 ran out to cat at 130pm, bit of mixed swell...took around an hour 20.

Checked in with harbor patrol, got mooring 33, first row next to cat yacht club.

Avalon was surprisingly busy especially after the light show we had the night before.

Grabbed the mooring, dipped into luau Larry’s for a burger, then headed back to the boat for lobster prep.

Had some bonito/macs for bait...got everything ready around 5pm....then headed to the quarry.

Dropped all 5 hoops around 6, just as the sun fell behind the island.

Then the fun began...within 5 mins....I had a cavalry of seals all over my hoops. Not a good visual when you see your buoys jumping up out of the water..not one buoy..but all 5. Dove into the zone to get our hoops out...had 2 ruined bait cages..thankfully I had spares.

Decided to motor off shore, with the hopes of getting them off my ass...no luck. Decided to head north of Avalon....same story...seals and more seals.

Kept trying till around 1am. Did manage to get a few hoops down unmolested....in those hoops prob got 15-20 shorts.

Called it a night....and decided to head back to our mooring.

As I get close to our mooring...the twilight zone opened up.

I was moored next to a skipjack with a red cover....however...a person in a pursuit boat....was sitting on my ball. Either this person can’t count, or is a bad mooring poucher....whatever...have to radio harbor patrol...I guess they need to confirm my twilight zone experience...and issue me a spot (24).

A jazz concert was going on at the casino...and both charter boats I’m sitting in between are in full on “jimmy buffet” zone. Jimmy Buffett zone...was not the zone I wanted to enter from my confused mooring twilight zone.

3am....I say F it. Tell my buddy to get up...we are going to enter the “party zone,” until our sandwich mooring buddies...decide to leave the Buffett zone.

We decided to enter the “classical music zone.” Now...my speakers are competing with both boats. Each speaker aimed at each sandwich layer.

We opened up some riip Crowlers....and fought back.

Finally around 4-430...guests of both boats....give and decide to go gently into that good “sleep zone.” We kill the speakers and enter sleep zone as well.

Wake up at 8am (which was not the plan) get into Avalon....grab breakfast....head home.

Some may say “why not call in harbor patrol?” Frankly...I’m not that guy....I figured screw it...I’ll hope they drive by....and hear the nonsense... I’m sure they did drive by and hear it..but...at that point...I was beyond the threshold of the coherent fishing zone the next day.

All in all...still a great day/night on the water. Took it with a pound of salt...it is what it is.

I’ll def check the casino jazz concert schedule and moor accordingly.

Worst part was...wanted to get a game of pool In at the marlin club....next time.

Btw...Sunday crossing was epic....never crossed as quickly as I did...pretty awesome.

Don’t want to create a separate thread for this....

Thank you, to the boat owner yesterday at the hb air show who was kind and gracious enough to give me an LP canister for my grill.

Thank you!

You saved our “eating day.” I will definitely pay it forward, and never forget them in my truck. I had 4 hangry passengers starring at burgers and dogs...uncooked.

Rookie move on move on my part!

Hopefully, you see this, thank you!
