Picked up a nice batch of squid from Nachos around 6:15, much larger size than prior batches. Went straight to the V's, some scattered boats, nothing like prior gang bangs, no bent rods, a few sportys cruising around, looked like one went straight to the rockfish spots to put something in the bag I assume. I trolled rapalas for about 2 hours for nothing, I cruised past everyone at the V's, closer to Palisades, was all by myself. Finally saw some marks and bait on the bottom around 80 ft, threw out a dropper loop on 30lb flouro leader size 3/0 j hook (40 lb spectra), about 1 minute after i put it in the holder the tip went straight to the water, finally!!! After multiple runs, one being extremely long I had no choice but to tighten the drag to have a chance at landing, finally got some line back and was able to bring to put on the deck. drifted again a few times but realized if I didn't head back to HB soon I would end up staying on a beach somewhere. Saw a crew on a Slay Day boat, waived them over, told them what I caught it on and gave them a nice scoop of squid as they only had dines. Wished them luck then got totally worked heading back to the barn. Now icing my back and getting ready for sashimi. I had gone to Cat 4 times since June for nothing besides bass and a couple losses. Keep at it, they are all over, find a spot by yourself. Tight lines!

Nice I was there on a proline. We had killer marks, but only a short halibut and Calico galore. Ride back was brutal! Grats!

Ditto on the weather. We were so focused on the bite we didn't leave the island till 4 and we paid for it with a really rough ride back and water off the port side like a fire hose. PFD's, kill switch and handheld's a must!! Wait a bit and this wind will be history and conditions will be much safer.

Agreed with the above posters... been leaving the island before noon and fishing the West End to help with the trip back. White caps were already starting at 11:30 this past Saturday.

Do not under any circumstances divulge the location of the ultra double secret probation spot known as the Vs. This is a felony in many states. :D

Same story for us. Marks galore at the V's to the Palisades. Zero takers of sardines or squid. Managed 1 yellow on a sardine in the afternoon at another spot middle of the island backside.

We were there too both Sat and Sun with nothing but calicos and barries. Saw that SlayDay boat at the V's yesterday too. Oh well, if at first you don't succeed...
