EXACTLY.Plus initial cost of the boat, taxes, fuel, annual maintenance, registration…….all that stuff is free?
I have two boats, I’m well acquainted with the cost and upkeep on them. $2k to not have to tow my boat down, have an expert drive me around and put me on fish, have a crew take care of the deck and keep everything clean, be able to fish with a boat load of live bait, have meals cooked for me, get to sleep while someone else is running things, take a hot shower and most importantly be on a nice big boat not getting my ass beat if the weather comes up. Then at the end of the trip I have vacuum sealed grade A fish that that is ready to eat. It’s cheap in comparison to buying and running a boat my man.

EXACTLY.
i have a boat for the lakes i live next to. i went out yesterday and love it. as stated like 14 times in this thread, i have a group of friends looking to take a long range trip with me and we needed to set a general budget so we can plan for everything. this is fully accomplished by now. ive posted about my grandpa, he was a long range guy in his day. i am following him and taking boats he has taken as a family experience adventure. i will take my son in the coming years. nothing they say will deter me. even an offer to go on your/their boat.. i want to take the boats grandpa took. this trip will be my first and i had no clue what the full, total, end of trip cost would be. pretty safe to say $2000 is a generous figure and if we all metaphorically show up with that in our pockets, we will have NO issues and come home with some leftover cash and fish.
some people are goofy..
I dig it. You have some seriously great tips.If it came to that, I am thinking would probably roll with a uhaul and find a parking lot to start the Dexter Morgan.
$20 bucks to rent one and only a $1 a mile.
we all see things differently. nothing is cheap anymore we can agree on that I know. there are advantages to both boat ownership or chartering and God knows that many good even great fishermen have no place in hell ever owning or running a boat. big difference between fishing and boating, I see it all the time. At least when sensibly purchased a boat will someday give you a financial return on the purchase when you are able to sell it. Its like a car in a way, some people are just natural bus riders. nobody buys a boat for an investment except those that want to be paid dividends of happiness and frustration.Plus initial cost of the boat, taxes, fuel, annual maintenance, registration…….all that stuff is free?
