I actually got him TWICE!! Here is the story,
My buddy John and I set out for fishing the canyon to try and get a mako. We went to Terramar kelp and made some beautiful macs for live bait and we had the most nasty chum buckets ready to go too. We both brought heavy gear, 2-50w, 2-30's, but I also brought my 25lb set up, a Seeker 270H-8' with my pro gear cs551. I had 50lb spectra with 15lb top shot 10' with a #2 j hook, I know weird uh. So we are motoring out and about half way decide to start trolling, as were cruzing at 5 knots I see the first little stringer of kelp, and I mean little. It's about 2 strands 6-8ft, pretty much something you're going to fly right by, but as the swell went up I saw bright color under it, I start freaking out switching modes to get a mac on this thing as John reels in the trollers. Pin the mac on, cast about 10ft away and watch the guy bolt over to inhale the bait! Run, run, run, SWING and BINK:zelfmoordthing just busted the 15lb. So my buddies calling me a farmer and I'm pissed and I dig through my shit for some 30lb flouro. Peel off the 5' of 15lb and tie on the 30lb about 8' worth. We are saying that thing is spooked and long gone as we start looking for the piece again. In comes a distress call over 16, my bro is talking to'em as I'm looking and there it is:2gunsfiring_v1:I'm telling him to stop and once again I'm freakin out because the yellow is sitting right under it AGAIN! I pin a mac on and round 2 starts..............The thing inhales this bait and now I'm on good, laughing our asses off how lucky to get him twice. Get 'em in the boat and crack a beer:hali_olutta:. I guess we used up the luck for the day since we got no takers for the mako. But I was happy!! Weighed in at Kens 33.4lbs

Very cool....congrats on a nice YT. You never know where the fish are going to be at. Last season we stopped on this HUGE, I mean HUGGGGGEEE pady...over 50 yards long and 25 yards wide.

We didn't catch a fricken thing. After an hour, we decide to go look for other paddies, and we stop on a trash can lid size paddy about a 10th a mile from the monster paddy, and we get six YFT, and five skippies.

water was 62-64 and green/blue on the outside 12-15miles, and very green inside of that. Weird too that we did not see any blues or any dolphins on the outside. Lots of sunfish/big ones, and lots of jellies.
