That's a great opportunity for an early to mid-career captain, if you can tolerate the bureacracy for 20 years.

They narrow it down fairly hard with their requirements.
1 year as a Master in Puget Sound on small passenger ferry vessels. So someone such as myself (I'm not looking) with a 1600 ton Master of Oceans (I have my celestial endorsement) wouldn't be qualified. Looks to me they already have the person but legally they are forced to put the listing out.

"Education and Experience: High school diploma/GED and one year experience as a Master in the Puget Sound on small passenger ferry vessels. The following licenses are required for this position: USCG Certification as a 100 ton Master, FCC Radio Operator License, First Aid and CPR certifications."

I totally agree they are just going through the motions but already have someone lined out for the job...how many small ferries are there on Puget sound

But Kim, with your personality & experience you would convince them that you are more than qualified. Just tell them "we put dead people in the freezer"

Isn't that half of what WSF ferry captain makes?

They might not have one person in mind, but they sure knew what they were doing when they limited the applicant pool.

Heck yea, same way I used to higher Fed employees in AK. But just because it is written for specifics, doesn't mean you do not have a shot. If they do like Feds did then there was screener that scanned and caught the general job description words and I would get the resumes/applications after that. Sometimes "OUR" designated guy never made it through the screening...

Or showing your mistress your house on the waterfront and then running aground. Been years ago but I seem to remember that incident. Good career move if it's true. Not such a good family move either.

I think they are looking to fill spots for the new fast foot ferries.
