Can the coax be changed out on vhf antenna

I’m checking the resistance on the coax on the end connector. I’m showing resistance. Can I replace the cable inside the antenna ? Watching you tube I should get a reading of 1 ? Is this correct. This is a Shakespeare 8700. Wm series of the 5225 xt. I have been experiencing static and not clear transmissions. Or is the antenna shot ?

Maybe you just need to cut it back and put a new, clean connector on?

I think that element is not just coax but a metal one.

You need to check your antenna system with a thru line wattmeter. Where are you located?

Santa Clarita. I will cut off connector and reinstall. Then proceed from there. I do receive noaa weather fairly good and I transmitted 8 1/2 miles last weekend. So maybe the antenna is ok ? I’ll update later today.

I resoldered the connector and it now check out fine ! What I do have is a antenna that is too close to the radio and does create some unwanted issues. Looking to move or raise antenna a couple feet away from radio. I think this might be the problem. Thanks guys.
