I have a 765M that I have rigged up with roller guides as a trolling rod now. It gets paired up wit ha TLD 30 with a Tib frame and 60 pound for the troll. Would this blank be capable of handling the drags needed to fish 80 pound? I know the reel isn't ideal. I have a talica 20 that I can fish 80 on. If I need to source another rod, then I would do so, but is this one capable, even with the old school roller guides?

i think that would be a great 80# rod. i have the 765l that i use for 60, and occasionally put 80 on there, but it is not an 80# stick. guide selection is a preference. the rollers work great as long as you keep the bend in the rod in along the correct axis. the ring guides allow a little more flexibility in which direction you point the rod.
