Im looking for answers for its preferred uses and a good pairing reel for those applications. Any and all ideas are welcome.

I mainly fish 1-3 day local trips for tuna and wondering how this rod will fit in my arsenal. I currently have Psw 700xh(bought from a fellow member, thanks junkyarded ), 800L, and a 9' seeker salas7x. Reels are avet sx2speed a JX raptor, and a torium 20.

Asking because I'm looking to possibly trade the seeker for a calstar 800h.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions.....let's hear em! Thanks in advance.

Jx on the xh fishjng 50 and torium on the 80h fishing 40. Sx on the 800l Seeker would be good for extra distance if your an iron thrower. Or get a spinner and throw irons and light bait (if there are no deans)

i fish a talica 12II on my 800H

You use this as your #40 bait stick, or something different? Whats it's sole purpose for you, or does it have other pairings that you'll try, given a certain condition on the water, and assuming you don't have ten rods specific for nearly all applications?

Do you like it, is it a go to setup for you?

Do you own one or have you fished it? Essentially that's what my setup is exactly, only right know the torium would go on the seeker.

I guess I'm wondering with my current gear, am I better served with the torium on my seeker, torium on the 800h or is it much simpler?
If I like throwing iron a lot keep the seeker, if I want to bait fish more, get the 800h?

Actually I use it as my 50lb bait sick. If there are big fish around that is my go to sick because I made mine really light and it's very very comfortable to fish. I got mine made with a long fore grip so putting it on the rail won't hurt the rod. As for pairing it with anything else, I haven't. I know a lot of people have this stick so I know someone will chime in. Good luck with your decision.

I have both those reels none of your sticks. however I have tried my friends stick. I don't usually throw the irons and to be frank im better off throwing a penn500 since that's how I started to practice while surffishing.

800H is a really stiff rod. I considered picking one up but after checking it out in the store I realized its just way to stiff to fish anything under 40lb. Its really a 50lb stick. And If I am going to fish 50lb it wont be on an 8' rod.

800h is a great 40lb bait rod and can be used for wahoo also. I also fish it for yo yo as I like the longer rod...great for working around other anglers..

Fish my 800h with a Talica 12 as a 40lb bait stick. For me it's a trade off between the extra casting distance and maneuverability of an 8 footer and getting beat up by a big fish. Luckily the rail is your friend. +1 for long fore grips.

I've got an 800xh for 50lb.

I have two and use them as a 40lb bait rods with an Accurate 870N. By far it's my favorite bait set up.

I have one I used for wahoo bombs with 40 and a Trinidad 30 Caught a lot of them with it, it’s good for heavy bombs or jigs but not light stuff. Don’t like it much for bait fishing

I love my 800h. I fish it with a torium 20 for big bait ling cod and dropper loop wsb.

I tuna fish with a fathom 15 ld2 or 25nld2. Largest fish to date is a 120# yft on the 15 ld2 on 40#

Goes on every trip. 40lb go to set up. LX, MXJ G2, Or JX. Don't trade that Seeker for it though , you can get a 800H cheaper i would think than you’ll get selling that 7X. Another great blank is the 800MH. (I’ve got a Factory wrapped in selling currently because ima build myself a custom MH)

Just picked up a 800mh rated 25-50 probably the 40lb stick you are talking about . My bro client wants an H for the 50lb range , but Im with you , I fish an 875h for that. Also I think the MH will throw jigs and various plugs nicely. Turns into a tuna fighter about 3ft from the tip.

I have one paired up with DPX 500,
And I used 30 yards or 50LB, top shot,
To a 3 Foot piece of flouro,
On my 8 trip last year,
And it kicked ass on the yellows,
Up to 35Lb , and I loved it.
