Went solo today at Izors. Super calm morning, almost water ski water! Clean water with 15+ water clarity, water Temps hovered around 64 all day, bait all over, birds, and dolphin too. But, no current... that made fishing tough. No wind, no current. Saw couple sport boats working the area with about half a dozen private boats.
Put 23 mixed bag of sand bass, calicos, and sculpin(5) on board between 12 and 18 inches. Thought I saw surface action, but seems it was macks as I hooked a few trolling around. All on mixed bag of colors using plastics. All released.
Another nice day on the water. Tight lines!

I need to save some gas and learn to fish locally. I always run to catalina while there are bass right out the harbor.
I can catch good numbers in the harbor as i have a ton of spots memorized but have only fished izors a few times.

Typically use only 5 to 7 gallons of fuel. Although, the island can be amazing! So many types and sizes! Good luck!

Great report, loads of useful information, great pics, thanks for taking the time to post. It is similar in Oregon, the very toughest days for rock fish, lings and Halibut are when there is very little wind or current.

Weather sure was nice today. Too bad the fishing shut off around 10.
