Per other gun dedicated websites shutting down their private ammo sales in CA due to the new laws that took effect January 1, 2018 http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=1414259.

BD Outdoors is taking caution and removing private ammo sales in CA. The laws of ammo sales online is now illegal in California and BD Outdoors could be held accountable for sales done on this forum.
We don't want to chance it so we will be removing all ammo sales in CA if they are posted.

California gun laws suck!

Turners said they were going to start stocking bulk ammo to compete with online lower prices. But as of now they aren’t accepting outside ammo yet as nothing is explained in the law.

Probably to lure new customers into their store...............Glock Store in Kearny Mesa says they will be doing it also but have yet to announce what their fee will be....

I guess there will be a lot more PM's among BD members now......
Also most smart gun owners are stocked up with plenty of ammo .....

Are components (bullets, brass, powder, primers) still OK for private sale here?

Private ammo sales are not illegal, they just need to go through a PPT transaction through an FFL just as a private firearm transfer would. I can't think of any reason why private classified ads for ammo sales should pose any more legal exposure than private classified ads for firearm sales.

Non-residents are exempt. But I want to know what happens if I travel with my handloads and bring back the unfired rounds.

Might just take the boat to Havasu this year... I've been told there's good striper fishing.

I agree as well but the big guys in to guns are being cautious and we are following them as they are lawyered up in guns...
