I have a 226 with the original 175 on it. I'll post some pics later. 1 thing that has been confusing me is what motor to use when I re power. The original still has low hours so I'm running it for now. The 226 seems to run more ass heavy then the 216, even on the trailer you can feel the difference. So I'm kinda leary on adding weight with a heavy motor.

So what motor is the best suited for re powering a 226?
i say a 225-250. if you go with a repower.

    I propped mine with a 15x15 4 blade SS. I hit 5350 last time out. Only 5100 with a 15x17.

What a coincidence, my boat used to be named Snickelfritz.....I heard it was their boat they took to boat shows too. He took good care of it.

I did not know they ever made a 24' my uncle has a 256 ("soft touch") and its one of the BEST riding boats I have ever been on... he is powered with twin yami 150's and its plenty fast too! some of you here on BD I'm sure have seen it at the yellow tail shootout 4th place last year ( team mr. meaner ) but he just had disk replaced in his back so no shootout this year... so I'm going to try and get him to let me use it this year!

The 246 was a new model introduced just before the economy turned and Cabo went into chapter 11. I saw a completed boat at the Fred Hall DM back in 92 and then visited their yard in Corona where hulls 3,4 were under construction. Number 2 went to the SF Bay area.

There are a surprising number Cabo owners on Bloody Decks. Please tell us about yours and especially share anything special about it. I have many original Cabo Brochures and listing many original Cabo Club members including original owners listed by CF#s
I am there original owner of a 1991 216. It has a Pacific Yacht Tower I repowered, rewired it 4 years ago with a Yamaha 150. It has a new fuel tank. It also has trim tabs which are a must. The batteries are moved forward. It sit on a 5 year old Pacific trailer.
    I will add pictures.

    Salud Cabo Bill

    Do you have any info on the 206 (not 216) CABO's. I have a 1990 206 and a buddy has a 1989 206. Don't know how many were built but I've only seen 2.

    Thanks

I looked thru all of my stuff and I don't have anything on the 206. I do recall that Cabo was booming and John introduced the 206 and then the 246. Apparently not that many were produced. I have 98 boats listed with the Cabo Owners Club but no 206s- sorry.
Because over I00 Cabos were produced it would cool to see how many are still in use especially BD members which is why I began this post.

WOW, incredible history, 20 and 24ft models, this is gonna be a great thread !!

I'd like to here more about that guy and his Cabo that went 200 miles offshore for the rocket launch. But he's not on BD, I may still have his #.
Where he got it, boat # and any other superhuman adventures we should know about. Ha ha.

    I found my buy folder,
I have a pic of What would probably be Tom Day, wife and two kids wearing santa hats on the water, listing it for sale, with a loran even, for the whopping sum of 27,900. with a 94 Merc 200XL and mercy 9.9 kicker.

Must not of sold, then I see papers from Boatwizard Yacht world .com in 2003 with same engines for 24,900.

Thats a lot of cabbage for an OE wired, OE motored OE tanked Cabo, new or not.
These were not cheap. Anyone know the MSRP of them ?,

Half day pass from wife yesterday, ran out of SB up the coast for some halibut,
    no love...
12-14Knts against the chop, slow down or pound, no way to get an angle on it.
Then headed back to the oil rigs for some taco meat, still a sloppy SE wind, but at least downhill,
28+ knts at 4500 RPM,in choppy DH conditions, not bad. max being 5300.

On a lake, I think she would fly....

Boat is in the driveway till tonight, I'll try to get some pics....after I scrub the oily residue from our oily waters here in SB that I missed at the ramp.

Thanks Bill.. I have the LE model. Getting re-powered with a new 250hp Etec on Thursday. Putting the Lowrance 4G radar and touch screen gen2. New 120 gallon tank from Imco and upohlstery in 2 weeks. Rebuilding the steering rams and rewiring everything. Ordered the Strataglass material. Looks like I will have $30k in it when it's done. Thanks again

Re-powered with 225 Excel in 2005 then with our current 2001 HPDI 200 Yamaha put in 2011. The color is Champagne the only one made that color. Bill, do you have the spec sheet for the 216 ? I have seen in W.O.N. a 1984 216 Cabo for sale in 2005. We have hull #3.

Lovin the Cabo thread! Lets Keep it going!

Here is My 1987 Cabo 216. The boat was purchased out of So Cal About 4 Years ago. Since them It has been Repowered with the New Yamaha F200XB 4Cyl. Amazing Motor with even better fuel Economy compared to the Yamaha 225 066 That came off it it, Even picked up a Few MPH's. It has been Completely Re-wired as well as electronics Updated. Wish you could see the Gelcoat, Still shines like it was off the show room floor. Willing to bet its one of the cleanest on the west coast. long live the little cabo's!!!

How many hours on your 175? I also have the original 175 with 2200 hours and it runs just fine.
