There are a surprising number Cabo owners on Bloody Decks. Please tell us about yours and especially share anything special about it. I have many original Cabo Brochures and listing many original Cabo Club members including original owners listed by CF#s
I am the original owner of a 1991 216. It has a Pacific Yacht Tower I repowered, rewired it 4 years ago with a Yamaha 150. It has a new fuel tank. It also has trim tabs which are a must. The batteries are moved forward. It sits on a 5 year old Pacific trailer.
I will add pictures.

Salud Cabo Bill

Just picked this beauty up for $2500.
May dump $25k into it for a 250 Etec and electronics. Do you think this boat is good for tuna and Catalina runs?

Kirk you totally scored! I might rethink the engine choice. Make sure you check your fuel tank for leaks.
What are your cf numbers? I will see if I have your boat's history.

Good job! At the very least upgrade the fuel lines and check your wiring while the seat section is out. IMCO marine were the original manufacturers of the fuel tanks.

Not a big Etec fan I take it.. My thought was with the Etec I could go with a 25" shaft.. other heavier motors I would have to go 30" and a jack plate?

I run the Yamaha F 150 on my 216. My dream engine especially on the 226 would be the F175 orF 200. It comes with a 25 inch shaft. This motor would give your boat plenty of power and economy. The weight is 487 pounds.

I read it's rated for 260hp.. is that true?
Was going to go 200HO but it weighs the same as a 250hp... less wear and tear on the motor

Hey Bill, my dad was an original cabo owner and a member of the cabo club. I still remember going to the meeting and tournaments as a kid. We sold that boat in 08, it went to San Diego originally, and last I heard it living up in the Santa Cruz area now. We moved on to a bigger boat, but I still miss that cabo. Such an awesome platform.

Do you happen to know what prop is on it and what kind of speeds your getting. Also, do you think a 25" without a jack would be ok? Thanks

Sorry I have CF1601 JY which is a 216 but not your boat. I will post the original pamphlet for the 226 tomorrow and follow it with others. I have a bunch of original materials and articles.

I have a 226 with the original 175 on it. I'll post some pics later. 1 thing that has been confusing me is what motor to use when I re power. The original still has low hours so I'm running it for now. The 226 seems to run more ass heavy then the 216, even on the trailer you can feel the difference. So I'm kinda leary on adding weight with a heavy motor.

So what motor is the best suited for re powering a 226?

Hey Kirk I'm not sure if everyone's jealous of the great deal you got on your 226 or the fact that you live on the causeway, a fishermans dream lol. When you re-power I'd add a plate inside your transum, because the washers on the hardware for the engine bracket are pretty small. At least they are on mine.
