Bow/Keel glass repair advise needed

I bought my Skippy in 2012 with this nasty bow keel rash. Finally want to fix it because it’s bugging me and it tears up the trailer bow rollers. I’m looking for some advice on how best to make the repair on inverted surface.
My thought is to grind out a bit and bevel, mix epoxy resin with fast cure catalyst, glass over with needed layers to meet depth of repair, tape a sheet of wax paper over the patch keep it in place. Or should I build some kind of temp mold? Any thought or advice?

Glass will hang upside down.Use vinylester not epoxy.Filler if needed will also hang if mixed right.

cant really tell, but if the glass is solid and not cut aprt you may be fine with just gelcoat

Why do you recommend vinylester over epoxy? Most all my glass experience is with epoxy, so i am most comfortable with it, but open to other options.

That pic wasn't up when i replied.That's minor and might need a little filler and gel coat.

Because your boat isn't made with epoxy.Polyesters and vinylesters generally don't bond well to epoxy.If you have to repair it again or want gel coat on it you could have an issue.Also save yourself some money.

Fill it,sand it,spray some gel coat with a Preval disposable spray gun.Unless you apply it too thick it won't sag.

Looks like a gelcoat only repair. Gelcoat is thick after you let it cure a few minutes with a hardner. To prevent gelcoat from slipping on a vertical surface, tape down a sheet of transparent plastic film over the gelcoat patch to hold it in shape, let it cure for a day, remove the plastic sheet and start sanding, buffing and polishing.

Edit: just saw the pics. I agree with others, looks like it is pretty much straight gel coat.

i have the same issue on my boat. i was thinking about making a stainless rub guard . don't have to worry about paint/ gel coat repairs, and protects against future shit happening. something like this....
