Took off to bola Friday September 4th easy drive-thru San Felipe no questions asked but either military checkpoint. Spent the afternoon at La gringa weather was about a hundred and three and humid. Jumped on a boat with Marco the captain from flaco's sportfishing very very good captain works very hard. Had to go find some bait not a lot of Macks but found some caballitos. I guess the jacks came in last week and tore up all the mackerel. We're able to load up in about an hour and a half took off to the yellowtail spot we're on the water was probably a hundred and five and super humid beautiful but right all the way there flat. Five of us loaded up a big white cooler and a kill bag. He made us some great sashimi while trolling for some dodos saw a couple on the surface but wouldn't bite. Went out Sunday with poncho out of daggets. Same thing with the bait situation since we had plenty of yellow we asked him to take us and look for some grouper. When was up seas were white capped. Rough boat ride there but very well worth it. Got to the spot four out of the five lines got slammed 2 out of 4 made it to the kill back. Filled up white cooler with Rupert and a huge 30 lb broomtail. Great time with that Captain knows his areas everybody else left we stuck it out as you can see the picture we did pretty good. Drive home through the night got to the border around 7 a.m. where it was already 102 in Calexico spent about an hour till we got to cross. Great trip just super warm and humid.

Thanks for the report Great pics. Were there many gringos in town? Are the restaurants open? Did you pre-book your fishing captain? Can you share the contact info? Also did you bother with Mexican Visa's (FMM). If so - at the border? Any questions about essential travel? I'm looking to plan a trip for next week.

No I never stopped for the Visas. And I've never been asked. If you have Facebook here to screenshots of them if you go through flaco let him know Contreras recommended you..

Yeah no problem. We stayed in the hotel. The AC was pumping as best it could camping would have been insane LOL. The rates were 400 for the day plus tip. We caught lots of fish using the butterfly lures. So if you are open to fishing yo-yos and things like that your chances of catching are far greater. Is what we found out for the yellows. The grouper on the other hand was 100% of 8 take lots of 16 ounce weights if you think you're going to fish that cuz once they take you to the structure you're done. Hope that helps good luck send a report safe travels.

Tyler just stay at Daggett's. It's 60 for a room with 3 beds instead of 120 at Los Vientos. Los Vientos was open last week. Brought fish there for dinner. A dude sliced his foor open on broken glass in the bottom of the "pool". Bring charcoal and stakes, burgers, and brauts and just do up some of your own dinners. Pangas are now 400 a day. Contact Daggett's directly, they have 5 pangas, excellent captains and can get you on the fish. Email Enrique- he is on BD. Fish one day with Pocho and bring many many many cold beers. Town had beer, ice, gas and diesel.
