Hey BD, I had the pleasure of meet John (jonrx7) yesterday. He bought a rod from me and let me play with some of his clamps.

My first impression... I didn't like it compared to my cork puppies. I liked the thinner profile of the aluminum better.

He was actually nice enough to give me a trigger grip clamp set AND solve a separate hardware issue I had with my mxj.

Tbh, the more I play with the Boiling Tuna clamp the more I like it! I think I just needed to adjust it and mess around with it a little.

This is intended to be a review and not an advertisement. I don't want any problems with BD Outdoors. I will take this down or move it if it offends anyone.

I just wanted to throw it out there because I wouldn't have even known about it If I hadn't met him. It's a quality, made in So Cal product. And it is sold by a great human being.

    Thank you John

They’re awesome and so is John! I usually don’t like triggers but after using his products it’s on all my jig reels now.

I have tried John's clamps thanks to @Jigslinger it took me a little bit of time to get use to the trigger having never using a trigger clamp before. I am looking forward to seeing John and his product line at an upcoming tackle swap meet.

Hi Adam and all, thank you for your input. 3 years ago I had this crazy idea about making my own trigger. I did not like anything out there. Needed light strong, no corrosion, trigger, hook keeper for my newell and old school daiwa sl. This came about - my east coast fishing guru asked, where is the reel seat version? I started marketing These clamps with Alan Tani and Bryan. They loved the look and the feel that was March 2019 at Fred Hall. Here we are today.

here are some pics of deckhand and reel seat version . Both have hook keeper. Composite frame 3000 lbs compression load. boilingtuna.com for more info. All made here in the USA.

    Blind leader,

does it have mounting holes for a clamp? If it does, you are good to go.
