After reading several threads on this topic (BD, HT, etc...) I just switched from Foremost to Boat US. Easy process all done over the phone that eventually saved me 40% for boat and trailer.

    Good luck!

Excellent! Just make sure your coverages are wha t you think they are- lower premium isn’t always the best indicator of value.

First you don’t have insurance, now you’re double covering. You’re digging yourself a hole bud.

Ryan I’ve got no idea what you’re talking about but apparently you don’t understand sarcasm.
As for double covering it’s strictly up to me what to insure the vessel ang trailer for and I aim for the very high level

Be very careful in placing more than one policy on your vessel and trailer- if a claim occurs, the policy wording generally states that your policies will work in conjunction with any other coverage in forces- this means that the policies will work in concert to settle the claim. This does not mean that you will get paid by both policies.

In a total loss scenario, the insurance company will demand the title(s) in exchange for their settlement check. So again, no double payment.

Why not just obtain 1 policy that properly covers the vessel and trailer? Double coverage is simply throwing money away...

I only have one policy. This was me just being a smart ass and has turned into a real misunderstanding. Thanks for the advice and concern though.

    Update.

I'm back in the insurance game (as if I never left!)....
Well... I am back on the retail side, but as Northwest Manager for Novamar Marine Insurance Group. Bigger company, and we have worldwide coverages...

As always, I'm here to answer any insurance questions you may have and to review your coverages.

This was a timely thread. Pete just hooked me up with a policy for my new boat. Will save ~$700 annually compared to what I was able to find on my own and the policy will be better suited for how I plan to use the boat.

If you haven't called @Pau Hana already, you're making a mistake. Whether insured already (why not shop around?) or not (!!!), he'll walk you through the process from scratch, find the coverage that makes sense for your budget and property, and get you up and running in no time. My only regret was not calling him sooner.
