Good stuff. Spot on. I suck at being a boat ho

I have never in my life taken a smart phone fishing out to sea out of cali or in cali land. Makes fishing simpler and better while staying focused on fishing. And they didnt have them back then. Still wouldn't be checking a phone at sea. I turn mine off

Smart phone would get destroyed taking fishing down here. I tried it (jet ski fishing) with a new Iphone 5 in the water proof case with floaty. Water proof my ass. By the time I got the iphone back to the usa the warranty was void. Or bro did not try hard enough to get it replaced :)

Screw phones while fishing. Unless its for straight info for the trip

Why quit then? Years (and several boats) ago, I was towed in from SCI, and trolled the whole way. We got hooked up and asked the tower to stop while we boated the fish. He didn't.

I have two friends and a son-inlaw that hit every number on that list. Ill take others that don't do shit nor offer compensation, Blows me away how arrogant people can be when you take them out for a day on the water and they just walk off with no regard!

For me. Technically I leave enough time for a flat tire pre dawn

Being late is a horrible feeling as a guest. Owners are not late. They are so motivated that they bought a boat.

Same with tow surf partners. When someone invests $10,000 to get tubed. And invites someone for $20. And they show up late or cancel last minute. Yah sticking to my regular crew who is real and wants to get fkn barreled. Heavy no playing around

    • Bring enough food for you and captain
    • Chip in for expenses
    • Bring ice
    • Clean your mess as you make it
    • Look out for other boats if it's crowded
    • Take the helm if captain is busy
    • Help clean fish
    • Help clean boat
    • Don't complain
Unfortunately, one of my bros only does 20-30% of the above but what the hell, I still invite his ass.

If your used to 1/2 n 3/4 day party boat discount prices and get invited on a sport fisher REALIZE most get 1 to 2 miles per gallon, Handing a skipper 50 bucks after 8hrs of fishing is like a slap in the face!

I prefer to contribute more then the actual cost divided. If allowed

When a buddy fills up before departure. And then fills up again after the trip so we know how much fuel was burned.

    I try and pay more

I love parkers. That's fare and your own deal

When fishing out of sd on private boats. Its almost always with long time friends or friends so the cost varrys. As a buddyho I just throw down.

But to know the exact actual fuel cost (not wear and tear) for people's info. Start with a full tank. Fill back up after fishing. That's how we do it tow surfing if we are going 50/50 when both people have skis and we only need one ski. That also elimates the amount of skis in the water. If you partner up with another person who has a ski also. Its like car pooling

I repeated myself on the fuel consumption from my previous post

Certainly not tellin you how to do your thing but be careful about expenses/cost VS what you collect. The authorities may look at a simple charge with no list of expenses as a charter.

I've never owned a boat and this is what I expect to contribute:
    1. Express my newbieness ahead of time. You don't need to teach me how to fish, but I don't know how to backup a trailer nor do I know maritime law.
    2. Be early to the dock ready to load up (my car is already unpacked.)
    3. Pay my fair share of bait and gas (always bring $100 in cash, because you may have already loaded up.)
    4. No drinking or drugs. Cap's boat, Cap's call.
    5. Bring my own gear (because I don't know if your boat is loaded or not, nor do I really care.)
    6. Follow the Cap's orders, but if you're a dick, I'm not coming back.
    7. Always treat the boat as if it's my own.
    8. Plan for an hour after docking to help clean. You'll never have a better looking boat after we are done.
If all goes as planned, it should be an awesome time.

I've done a lot of "backseating" in my bass fishing days. This was handed down to me by friends and has always left my brothers happy. YMMV...

lol we should also start a boat captain etiquette when you get a boat ho.

    1) stare at him as he undresses to jump into the water.

    lol
