The only thing that will wake up the Sportfishing Owners is if criminal prosecutions start taking place. As long as there are folk whose only concerned is with getting paychecks via insurance, nothing will change.

Thats a strange thing for the owner to be doing in the context of the question which was what fuel was aboard that could cause the fire to burn so rapidly, but ok, I see your interpretation.

There seems to be a huge piece of the puzzle missing. Other than having a large amount of accelerant responsible for the event, it just does not seem possible that such a fire could spread so fast that the crew on watch and/or the smoke alarms did not alert people in time to evacuate. I have burnt a lot of wood in my life and it just doesn't spread very fast, especially in heavy wet fog conditions. I look forward to the findings of the professionals to learn what really happened.

There’s the obvious explanation: There was no watch. The fire was ignored until it was too late and the passengers died due to neglect.

If you were making a difference it would be one thing, but all you are doing is trolling a website on a traggic situation.

Go make a difference by working with legislators on it if you feel strongly about it, but trolling while this is still ongoing is classless.

    This guy gets it.

And was he in his underwear coincidentally in the same room where all the rest of the crew was sleeping?

    I don’t trust government.

The industry needs to fix itself. Every guy who can’t take his boy fishing anymore because his mother won’t let him go on one of these boats is what will change this industry.

    Larmo....

Asking questions, and looking for reasons as to why, all good. But without really knowing the facts, some of your speculations are more accusation. and i think you realized that, or you would have not deleted the post I was going to quote.

Larmo - Now I recall you from the Prowler - Attessa IV collision. How many clients did you garner from your sleazy posts about that incident? What is the name of your law firm? Come on, if you're a great litigator you should be proud of it. You are a person who is very easy to dislike. But, I think you know that. Perhaps you even work at it? Go for it. Whatever floats your boat. Seeking solutions would be beneficial for all. You are looking for fault, which you likely hope to be financially beneficial for you. Perhaps exits from the bunk room terminating in the same area should be changed. But, you're not looking for that kind of thing, are you? BTW - I do not work within the industry. So, your previous accusations do not apply.

    No. Not all.
    Here is your quoted question:
"Is there any type of accelerant on the boat?"

In that context, the diesel being referred to by the Owner is not an "accelerant". You and I both know that that detail would be cleared up in deposition by lawyers from one or both sides.

You ever take a good look at the interior of most of the charter fleet? Wood covered in varnish. Seat cushions made of foam covered in plastic cloth, carpet, wires. What isn’t combustible?
