When it comes to BD, those guys (and a little farther north) learned to keep their mouths shut on the internet long ago. That said, get out your charts (you do have charts, right) and look at the underwater tuna freeways out the backside of the islands heading north. Tunas are rumored to pass that way every year.

I don't get the secrecy on the open water pelagics. Especially up here. I went out yesterday behind Cruz and looked it over pretty good as far up as Gull and offshore beyond the dropoff into the basin. Some areas with lots of life and a billion porpoise but no sign of tuna for us. We were geared up and hopeful but seems like this was maybe just a quick hit and the fish moved on up the line. No marlin seen either FWIW.

Went out Friday evening looking around. Stayed the night at Bowden point, caught macs, plus almost a flying fish. Saturday went out looking 8-10 miles, didn't see or meter anything. Stopped on a few empty patties.
    That was it for us.

Lots of mini macks in that same area outside gull island. There’s been lots of the minis at Gina all season but I haven’t looked for em in the last couple weeks

I also looked around on Saturday about 11 miles south of Santa Cruz and east of the earlier reports in this thread. Cold side of the temp break. Found acres and acres of bait, porpoise and shearwaters. No tuna seen or metered.

I'm game if anyone wants to buddy boat for a more organized search...
