1987 Aboard the commercial bottom fishing vessel Ohana Kai out of Kewalo Basin. At Pearl and Hermes Reef, NWHI. 100+ lbs, we didn't get a weight on it, we were too busy putting fish in the boat. 2,000 lbs in 2 hours. Sold at United Fishing Agency Auction Block No worries about ciguatera back then. Cap'n said the fish finder showed about 140,000 lbs of ulua under the boat so we didn't even dent the school. Our target fish were opakapaka but we got some butaguchi, and hapu'upu'u while bottom fishing and caught pelagics while trolling from place to place. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...58072151.35694.100001366022089&type=3&theater
...A little help please. I tried to insert photo using BDs platform and it didn't come up, so I copied and pasted URL from my facebook page. Can't figure out how to post pictures....http:///www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=424165394305658&set=a.153167158072151.35694.100001366022089&type=3&theater
Photo might be too large for bd itself. I usually upload my photos to imageshack and then link from there.
too bad that entire area is closed off. lots of fish, even to this day. I think a limited entry fishery/ grandfathered in kinda thing woulda worked....but I don't know. that's a beast for sure
My Uncle had one of the permits for up there and the stories he tells are almost unbelievable. Kind of sad to think that the Hawaiians/people of Hawaii may never be able to fish up there again.
Saved the Picture to my computer. Then I uploaded it to a private photo album on my Facebook to host the picture. After I uploaded it I right clicked on the picture and copied the Properties. Then clicked the picture button above the text box on bloody decks pasted it and done. Hope this helps.
