i thought about going outboard but wanted to keep the diesel,i have it rebuilt, making a custom bait tank behind the helm like i seen on the Crystaliner to have more deck space,,,also i changed the fuel tank to a 120 gal poly tank,

My two cents: a lot of us like Outboards, yet, I think it is good to check the original DESIGN of the boat--it may well have been built to balance with the diesel inboard; messing around with the original design may/may not be a problem, but in my mind that should always be considered.

balance was one of my main concerns with this conversion,,never thought of it as "messing around' with it,,theres plenty of boats that have been changed from the original DESIGN,,i think all boats are made with balance in mind from the manufacturer,,and should be with any mod,,but thanks for your two cents,,fishing this sunday,,,

Misunderstanding, I SUPPORT you sticking with the diesel, I was saying to the people who suggested an outboard, that adding an OUTBOARD might be "messing around" with the design.

no worries, thanks for your comments,,very happy with the outboard conversion,,had a recall with the key switch that shut me down a few weeks ago but hope to be fishing this weekend,

Would have been proud. Don always liked doing things in a cutting edge style and good design.
43 mph, 2.0 gph . Great looks, more fishing room.
3.0 gph on low cruise @ 27mph. Man what's not to like? Don made a strong fish machine, but you redesigned it to its full potential. Certainly he would have been proud.

Maybe my 26 needs 2 X 300s e techs!.....just sayin.

I don't know of any fishing skiff that goes that fast,
And gets that economy.
( I'm not talking about fountain,or scarab's, but pilot housed fishing boats)

Hey Colin, like i mentioned a month or so back i had it stall out a couple times and turned out they had a bad batch of ignition switches, have around 30 hours on it since and no problems,, lots of power,,very happy with it,,

How's the winch working out? I have been looking at anchor winches for a while, but the ones designed for boats are so expensive... I like the sound of $300 much better! I would love some more info if possible!

Hey Zak, the winch is working out great, changed out to a heavier anchor so it drops out , no need to go out of the house,,very happy with it,,
