Years ago we used to catch huge numbers of them while rock cod fishing outside of point Dume. Did not thing they were that good to eat as compared to the Salmon grouper and cow cod we were catching..

I just had some at Nobu in Vegas... see photo... all I can say is it was amazing...

    Tight lines,

    Jeff

Usually the West side of the 14. Look for commercial buoys in 2500 feet of water.

    1.) buy a commercial fishing licence ($121)
2.) Buy a commercial ocean enhancement stamp ($45)

So quick ? if you do this and fish on a party boat considering they have a commercial fishing license (which I guess they do.) You can sell the fish to a wholesale buyer as long as you don't take any home?
Just wondering because this is interesting.

Party boats have a commercial lis. and a commercial sportfishing lis. since the players(customers) are sport fishing............and sport caught fish can not be sold not at all..........not that interesting. Huge fine.........scary............but not interesting.

The only way it could be different..........if every single person on the boat had a commercial lis. then in theory it could be commercial fishing with a rod and reel..............

Not legal to sport fish for them where they live.

Just go to the fish market.

so if you buy a commercial fishing licence and the ocean enhancement stamp,

Is it correct to say that at that point, you can fish deeper than 60 fathoms? or keep over "sportfishing" limits?

    Can anyone answer that?

I think there is a limit on the number of black cod licenses issued and I am pretty sure they all have been issued. To get one would require someone to retire and then win a lottery. There are several commercial licenses that are this way.

Correct- only if you are commercial fishing and not sport fishing.

So if it was (paint chewing off the boat) wide open albies in US waters the deckies can't go ahead and have at em with liftpoles if there are customers on the boat fishing and have caught enough?

Sorry if this is interesting for me not looking to do it or anything, but de jura laws are cool to know.

Still.....the only way this would fly is if EVERYONE had a commercial fishing licence and are NOT taking any home.......

something along those lines.......I tried to find out info on this earlier this year......
