First off just wanted to say that this is a awesome fourm, recently I bought some rod building parts from Jonathan Vadney who I met on here. Here invited me on a 2 Seeker Rods sponsored trip on the Black Pearl out of morrow bay. It was a awesome trip and well the rest is history. I also enjoyed meeting a few other board members on the trip as well. We slayed the lings and reds some cabs as well. The hot ticket was the jig I had made up 100 or so for the trip my party of 9 people went through a good amount of them, I left most of the rest with the crew. The lings were also chewing the swimbait pretty well after tearing up 8 or so of them I decided I would stick to jigs. It was my first time on the Black Pearl and I had a great time Saturday was epic fishing I personally caught at least 40 lings and at least 10 in the 10lb class. My buddy had the Jack pot with a 18.6lber.

Those are all quality bottom critters, well done! Weather looked great, full sacks, and good times. Can't ask for much more.

These are some of the jigs that were working well.

The Black Pearl isn't a fancy boat does not really have very good storage for tackle boxes and the sleeping bunks are pretty cramped however, the Captain put us on a lot of fish and Nick the deck hand hand who talks is very cool. I didn't catch the other deck hands name but don't think he even said 2 words the whole trip. That being said I would get back on the Black Pearl anytime!

I organized this trip and I can say that w/o a doubt, this was the most epic bottom fishing I have ever experienced. I have been fishing rockfish for probably 20 years from Bodega, to the Farralons, to ano nuevo, to Mexico, and nothing comes close. Everyone on the boat caught at least 20 keeper lings on Saturday (all, except our 3fish limits, were released unharmed). Huge reds. Big coppers. A bunch of Cab drivers. It was insane. Everyone got a seeker tshirt and we raffled off a custom seeker rod that I had built.
Thanks for writing the great report Taylor. It was awesome sharing the rail with you and your group!

This was an incredible trip. Having lived on and fished the Central Coast for over 35 years, I have never seen such a beautiful day on the water. Saturday was glassy calm, zero wind or swell and fishing was totally off the hook. Jon isn't kidding about all the legal kings that were released. I fished primarily swim baits (BH 6") and threw back at least 20, only keeping my three that were over 30"! Big reds were everywhere and everything was ready to bite. We fished way up north and most of the boats don't go that far. But as a two day charter it was well within the range and spent a full day on these pigs. Thanks to Jon Vadey at California Tackle House, Seeker Rods and the Black Pearl for a rocking good trip!

This is great. I live on the central coast and my boat will be ready this weekend. I can't wait to get out there and get in on the action.

Great report. Congrats to all on that thrip, whish I could have made it. And got to say the rock fishing up there blows So Cal right out of the water. It's so overfished down here if you catch any rock fish over 2 lbs. you are considered
a rock fish guru.... LOL !!

Nice report. I have fished the Pearl a couple times since moving to the area from further north a few months ago. They bring a level of professionalism to the areas sport fishing boats that I do not think existed prior to their arrival. I leave on their next 2 day trip this Friday; can only hope for a similar outcome on the Lings.
