My fellow fishing brothers and sisters, its time we Unite and Take a Stand against all this oppressive and absurdist rules and regulations from Big State and its Bureaucratic Agencies. Like the independent farmers and ranchers in the United States being regulated out of Existence, so Big Corporate Monopolies can Dominate, the END GAME is the SAME FOR US!!! Through out the years they have been Acclimating us, fishing licence, reports, ramp fees, oppressive slip fees etc. Now they want Mandatory Boating Safety Courses...while keeping us in Compliance Mode and putting us in the Poor House, they are Empowering Themselves to Wipe "WE THE LOCAL FISHERMEN" off the Map!!! Time to TAKE A STAND Against the Totalitarian Big State MY Friends...

Amen Brother, It is the same in all aspects of government. I am pretty sure "We the People" did not ask for all this over regulation. I sure as hell did not.

Give'em Hell!!!

If we want to have a sustainable fishery a fishing license is a must. Reporting certain catches helps keep track of populations and is very important.

There are also pluses and minuses to having a boaters safety course. Many people will agree that there are private boaters that put other people at risk regularly. It is the small groups of people that dont follow maritime law that ruin it for responsible boaters. Having seen sailboat guys cut across the bow of several boats ive been in and other reckless behaviors I would be for more educated people in the waterways . I would be interested in other peoples opinion as well .

Without rules in place I really don't trust ethics of some people.

just like gun laws, only the law abiding & good follow the laws & rules. It does'nt matter how many take the boaters safety course only the good will abide. Just another regulation just another tax.

Current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class, involving high meat intake, use of fossil fuels, air conditioning and suburban housing, "ARE NOT SUSTAINABLE"... these are the Words of Maurice Strong, member of the Club of Rome and Head Speaker of United Nations Conference on Environment and Development ( Earth Summit) Meeting in Rio de Janeiro, June 13, 1992. Bush Sr. signed us on to " United Nations Agenda 21 Century Sustainable Development Plan. If you Research U.N. Agenda 21, you will find that it is a "Elitist Plan to Shut Down the Middle Class Way of LIFE!!! A Third World Banana Republic or lets say "Hunger Games Society" Scenario for us Peasants... Through the EPA, FDA, OSHA, BLM, NOAA (for us fishermen) and so forth, we are being incrementally Regulated OUT of our Way of Life. They Want Control of All Land, Water and Resources. They want us watching TV or playing games in their Community (Communist) Parks Gang, NOT going about our own business...Fishing the Vast Blue Sea, Rivers and Lakes!!! Their Regulations are Without Representation of "WE THE PEOPLE", non-debatable. Hell, we can't even Vote their Behinds out of Office!!! They are appointed, Not Elected!!! Yes some of their regulations are legit, but they are Created in a "Black Box" with No Debate... Many More Regulations Are To Come if "We The Fishermen" do not Intervene Now!!! I leave you with the Words of Rosa Koire, a Great Patriot in Defiance of UN Agenda 21. "UN Agenda 21 Sustainable Development is the action plan implemented World-Wide to inventory and control all Land, all Water, all Minerals, all Plants, all Animals, all Construction, all Means of Production, all Energy, all Education, all Information, and All Human Beings in the World. "Inventory and Control"!!!"

This one really bothers me. The harbor i launch from, for years and years. They cannot even put channel markers or even lights. Coming in at night, GPS is a must or land mark (depth recorder). Left or right, your in the reef. So who's to blame, if you hit the reef at night? Example, your GPS/Depth finder went out. Call the coast guard 9pm at night, can i have a escort going into the harbor....? Haha.

Who enforcing the homeless/crackheads on the seat benches, right near washing your boat. Really uncomfortable. Or the guys smoking dope near kids etc... right by the dock. Seeing people washing their vehicles at the harbor. Island small, and i know they got no boat. Just like normal, another day in paradise. Plus, the channel needs to be dredge. No big boats can go out. Why gotta sign a paper enforcing them to dredge the channel out, when paying ramp fee? No more money?

all of it is meant to regulate us local fishermen out of fishing. they "the corporate leaders of the world" want full control over all food, water, and resources on the planet!! they want us only using what they provide, at their designated times...notice the blue signs at public beaches that say "closed from 10pm-6am"?? UN blue!!! save as at their community parks, etc...

as for the dredging of the harbors, channel markers, beacon lights, and lets not forget the fad bouys... yes, we pay already!! ramp usage fees, slip fees, trailer registration, fishing license, you name it!!! all these "fees" should cover all of what they supposed to be doing!! yet, none of it is being done?? but let one of us forget to pay one item, and they are on our case?? go figure!!!

i feel you on that my kauai friend!! we need to resist!! cant just be one...we all need to resist!!!

Organize now. Make yourselves into a big body of fishers both diving, shore, offshore whatever. You all need to be of one sound mind when they come after you. If you guys haven't just look at what happened to california in the MLPA process. I urge everyone to start now...seriously. People are going to get SCREWED over when the big corporations and environmentalists start spouting off about saving the environment and creating protected areas where fishing isn't allowed, but agricultural/city run off is just fine. Please look at the MLPA process in California, do your guys' research. The people in California got screwed because they weren't organized and fought amongst themselves over who did what, or who has a bigger negative impact. Form your coalitions/organizations now and be ready to fight against the rooting out of self-sustainment.

Think the big problem here is our money(reg fees, ramp fees, slip fees etc..) goes into the general fund. Our money grubbing
politicians would rather use those funds to teach keiki about pono choices or commission studies to save a lava tube bug.
William Aila is more concerned about fencing off our forests so we can't hunt. He is a pawn to the liberal activists that would tell us we can't fish in the porpoise schools anymore. I would pay more if my monies gave us good ramps and facilities,
but it won't. The state's attitude towards fishermen is shameful.

That's the thing about representative government, we get what we deserve. We elected the people running this state. We elected the governor that appointed Aila. You may personally be against them, but the people of Hawaii elected them. Democratics and Republicans aren't all that different, but what we see in Cali and Hawaii and places that insist on only electing people from one party is all of us getting what we voted for....
