If we were fishing double touble kite rigs on 100lb we would have killed two fish'

The kite and big gear is going to get it done.

it looks like it is... and I cant imagine 2 birds(non aquatic) that look like each other being 30+ miles off shore

You'd be surprised!

Those little yellow birds show up on boats out there often.

Kite might have helped although you guys got bit on numerous occasions, so that part you guys already had down. 100lb, I could see that helping if they weren't to line shy to bite it.

By the looks of the conditions, flying the kite might have been pretty difficult to do??

I'm jonesing right now BAD after reading your report!!!!!

you'll see those little birds offshore when ever it's been foggy near the coast or the island and they get lost in the fog.I remember one that landed on deck one day and was so tired it couldn't even fold up it's wings...it didn't resist AT ALL when I went to pick it up.....I bet he had ten more minutesbefore he became fish food.do them a faor and put them in a box til you get near shore then let em go .

Found the fish 10 miles west of the 209. Spotted truns dipping and started brailing bait. Tuna charged boat, massave boils all around the boat. I got bit on the 40 pound, dumped it 10 minuts lator. Rebait and get bit instantly got, short story almost 2 hours lator get chewed off 30 feet from boat.

This is where we were, note lil yellow bird.View attachment 594446

Went looking again, spotted a singal turn working, bunch of bait goes overboard, game on, boils everywhere. My buddy Kendall gets bit on a mack using 60lb. 40 times around the boat and 2 hours lator, fish is as close as 20 down. And pow. Fuck!

Here are some action shots..

So much for "anything in SoCal can be caught on 30" idea. That pole holder shot is awesome!
Makes me wonder if you could use the boat wicked style. Congrats on a hell of a day!
