We headed out of the Honokohau early and went wide and north looking for the north Porpoise school, no luck, heaed back in about 1000 fathoms off of OTEC we hooked up to this big girl, about an hour into the fight she died, spent the next hour planing up, kind of bummed to loose this great fish, but it happen every once in a while. Final tally 867.5

Congrats on the fish! You had good intentions to release the fish, but you can still have the fish smoked, super good treat!

Nice job, and thanks for the report. No fun trying to recover a dead fish as big as a small submarine.

Us lure guys want to know what lure the big girl ate?

Zane it ate a purple soft head, that the second fish over 700 thats ate that lure, I hadn't had I bite on it till this year and we have caught 6 on it this summer and fall.

The fish went to one of the ladies in my office she has enough meat for a month, but they make sausage, grind it up like burger, and and smoke it.
