The weather report sure didn't say good weather with small craft indicated? Sure glad it held off for a nice day of big Tail hunting! Way to go guys!

Ive been using the Windy app and it's been more accurate than most forecasts the last couple years. It also allows you to get a bigger picture view of weather patterns to see if the forecast is going to be accurate. Their website is www.windy.com
Saturday's forecast called for south wind early, with light and variable until 3:00 and then west wind. That's why we left the island at 1:00. The wind started blowing just as we got in the harbor. I had a buddy who stayed at the island until 3:00 and got his ass kicked all the way home.

Did you switch out the gears on the 25, or stay stock?

I just have the stock gears. Didn't even know that you could switch them out.

    Great report and clean pictures.

I have a Torque Star Drag that I thought was the best jig reel I’d ever owned and it’s amazing for sure but I just had a first day with my new Tranx 500 and I gotta say there’s no real comparison. Monte swears by the Tranx and kept telling me it was a game changer until I finally broke down and bought one. He’s one of the best chuckers I have known and he sold all his Avets and bought four Tranx set ups.

I’ve fished the tranx, it’s a great reel with tons of power. I personally don’t like the level wind for fishing surface iron. It may sound weird but I’m really big on using specific winding cadences for different presentations and find that my left thumb guiding the line affects the rhythm of my right hand turning the handle. When a level wind takes my thumb out of play I just can’t seem to find my winding rhythm.
