Offshore BFT LIMIT 12 miles OUTTA O'SIDE by 8:30am

Left the harbor at 5am, just cruisin slow to be 10 miles straight out of the harbor at daylight. Went the same route as the last few trips, no bait, just trolling madmacs and looking for life. Just after 7 got a strike on the MM 160. Bagged a 37 pnder!! Kept working that same little zone and got a 35 pnder on a MM 200. Dressed & bagged by 8:30.

Shit...already was limited, thought about just calling it a day, just couldn't, had to stick to the game plan. Got another strike while I was giving the info out on channel 72. He took advantage of me screwing around on the radio and popped off. Did a few more passes then headed to DelMar.

Was 10 miles out between Encinitas & Solana beach BS'n with Laurie on the phone. I turned around and I'm like I think I got some kelp on my lure. Well I guess I forgot to put the clicker on. When I got home and checked the video you could see the line ripping off the spool, back and forth for a couple minutes LOL!! Finally got all the line back and did my first ever CATCH & RELEASE on a BFT.

Worked my way back north about 13 miles out. About halfway back to Carlsbad canyon There was a shit load of boats, private and a few of the fleet west a little. Looked like everybody was stopped and fishing. Hooked another one on the 200 but he slipped off after a couple minutes.

Anyways, quiet the trip. Love when a plan comes together. Didn't really take pics but I got it all on the GoPro. Will probably try to get it added to this report tomorrow night. Just wanted to get this info out ASAP!

This little area for some reason I've got fish between 7-8 am the last 3 trips. You can see the little blue fish next to the cursor, gps numbers bottom left. Somehow the first part of my track got deleted when I plugged in the unit at home. But that looked like spaghetti working that zone. The yellow waypoints are 5 & 10 miles from shore so I know how far out I am LOL!! The track doesn't show but straight out of the harbor to the north most 10 mile waypoint then turn to the area 1-2 miles out from the second 10 mile waypoint.

Sorry for the long rambling but that's me

What size reel are you trolling with ?
A Penn Fathom II 80 2LD 130pnd braid - 75yds 100pnd mono. Does fine, but 100pnd BF might spool it. Biggest I got on it was a 60 pnder and no problem.
The other one is a Diawa Saltiga 50 HA Star drag. Not for trolling but worked for smaller grade. I got spooled on it earlier in the year outta SD lost the MadMac and $80 in line.
Went out the next day and got the penn LOL

About 125 yards with one and about 75 yards with the other. I am doing good right now. But last month I did like 5-6 trips with nothing. I told Laurie I think I'm gonna sell my boat (YEAH SURE) and start going on the sport boats again. I don't know how to fish anymore I lost my mojo. We would go inshore and Lauries bringing halibut home every trip and I can't even get a shorty. A frustrating time!! Then the switch flipped, for now. It's fishing I'm just getting lucky

Really? That's cool for me LOL glad to hear it's getting out there. Goproing and all the work it involves really sucks. Don't think I'll be doing that much longer. Taught me alot of respect for these guys that do these killer fishing videos. They are putting in some serious work. And fishing too?
